How To Install The Orion EQ-3M Dual-Axis Electronic Drive

This is Part 1 in a 2 Part series. The Orion EQ-3M Dual-Axis Electronic Drive is going to be part of a future DIY project for me. In this episode, I show you how to install it on your Orion Astroview Mount and discuss the problem of the motor controller functioning for about an hour. With this Dual Axis Motor Drive system I will be taking my first step towards creating a GoTo Mount.

Guess I'm not familiar with the "Astro-view" mount. I do have the "Orion Skyview Pro" mount that I bought nearly 15 years ago. Are these two similar? And; HOW did that project with the "Raspberry Pie" turn out???? Thank You for posting 📫 ☺️

I've been searching "Building a DIY GoTo Telescope Mount" on Google and compiling links to the information I will need in the future. There's a lot of information so I've not narrowed down the direction I will take. Once I do, I will purchase the Raspberry Pi.

Hello! Nice to meet you. Could you tell me, i have the similar eq3 mount. When i mount goto set, just have one question - how you transport head of mount, maybe you have box or case, because after install motors head cannot put in the manufacturer box? Whad do you do?

I purchased a bin the lined it with foam in order to transport the mount.

Is the mount compatible with a Celestron motor mount kit

That will depend on the screw hole locations between the brackets and the mount. Currently I don't have the Celestron motor mount kit to be able to determine that for you.

I have a Stanley Power IT 1200 battery pack. It has a 120 AC plug and 3 USB ports.
