This video shows me that there is a lot of room for improvement in the door hardware industry. There has to be a less problematic and easier to install exit device.

VonDuprinSafety thank you! Prepping the door went well. But then realized we bought the wrong length of cables for the doors.

Referenced this video cause I have never encountered this system before, honestly, while great in thought, these things seem problematic and should not be installed on doors that see regular daily use. There are more than a couple here where I work on a 6 year old building, only 4 do not have problems and those four doors hardly ever get used.

I work on Von Duprin exit devices at a university. I am a locksmith. They are excessively over-engineered. Nothing simple or solid. They tend to need repairs consistently more than others. The cost is MUCH higher to purchase and install. They are also difficult to adjust. People pay top dollar thinking they are getting top quality. I am not trying to knock your products. I just gave an honest review of Von Duprin products on our campus. We have many styles of Von Duprins. I have worked on them for over 22 years, from VERY OLD units to present day versions. They are difficult to work on and vibrate apart over time and use. This video is ANOTHER example of ANOTHER Von Duprin. I wish i were wrong.

I work on commercial doors and didn't see this cable system untill a few years ago. I agree 100 Percent it's overly complicated and hard to fix with those tiny rubber bands it's just a bad design. They do tend to slip and need ajustemnt

They call it job security. Techs call it a reason to drink? Which vertical rod device would you rate as good? I think they all have there problems.
