Thank you so much! One extra-information: not all the .apk (versions of Tidal) work. The 2.33 doesn't (even if you download the .apk, not the .apkm!) The 2.31 version works perfect.

A follow up question: for my own purchased music files (including artwork), how does the file structure work in terms of where to put which files? The user manual just says to copy the files onto the device, which isn't very precise.

Hi, glad it worked smoothly for you. If you look around the 4:00 min mark you can see the folder structure in Android File Transfer. Just copy your audio files to a folder within the Music folder....

Should I be separating out any JPG files with artwork and moving them there, or do I keep everything together? And can I create a file structure, e.g. by artist, below the Music folder?

PS I should add that as a test, I dumped a single album into the top-level directory (not the Music folder), and the SR25 happily recognised the songs and the artwork

@@jonathansimon9908 I think it will follow any file structure your created below Music. It will also find artwork in an external folder.jpg or files with embedded artwork within each folder. Experiment what works for you....

Thank you so much for this video and the details in the comments below. After a couple of days of trying to get Tidal loaded, I spotted the detail below on using version 2.31.0. I have now loaded the service and working. However, I notice that the dial on my SA700 remains red (16bit) when playing MQA tracks via the full app. On the pre-installed version, MQA tracks set the colour green (24 bit). I am wondering of this is due to the older version not playing MQA. My settings are set to Master for streaming and download.

Excellent video, however after I've copied the APK file to my Kann Cube's Open service folder, the Cube can't 'see' it so I can't run the file and update the older version of the APK file I already have (version2.24.0) and this older version won't allow me to log in anymore. Hi! Excellent video! I have a query, my SP1000 fell to the ground and the rear carbon fiber layer cracked ... everything seems fine but when I play songs via streaming on Tidal through the 3.5 output I hear a base noise in my Shure SE846 ... if I connect them to the 2.5 output that noise is not there. When I play a song from the player in the 3.5 output some noise may appear and it disappears completely when I deactivate wifi !!! What can be?? Is it a defect in the unit or do you have another explanation?

I think it should work on any of the more recent AK products with the Services menu (and OpenServices folder)

All steps have worked, download & installation of the Androit File transfer, download apk file. I had to create the open service folder. I can see it on the AK500 folder overview but no content shown on the display. Do you have any idea how to get it done? I cannot find a address for support ? Astell&Kern is not answering my emails unfortunately.

@@vkshg8089 I think the operating system on the AK500 does support APK loading mechanism. The APK support started with the following (and later) models: SP2000 / SP1000 / SP1000M / SE100 / KANN CUBE / SA700 / SR15

I don't think this is possible with the AK70 - you will need a more recent player e.g. SR25

It is a long time since this was published... but this process should work for any App that is available as an installable package. You will need to experiment and be prepared that some Apps may not run successfully.

Maybe the AK70 mk1 is a litte old for this. I do know tidal are in the process of changing their software interface so maybe the older tidal app on the AK is no longer compatible with the service on older AK models.

The ability to listen off-line is part of an active Tidal subscription. The downloaded files are time-limited (for 30 days I think).. So you can continue to enjoy a selection of downloaded Tidal music whilst offline. If your subscription expires then you will loose access to any offline Tidal content.

Sounds like the file is corrupt. Check you are downloading the correct version. Maybe try using a different web browser for the download.
