I've had this set up in my car for a year now but this guide helped me wire up the lock and unlock accessories as well as the remote kill switch. Coupled with a physical kill switch plus the redundant remote relay adds a level of security that helps me sleep better at night. Thank you very much for this guide!

Great job man. Out of curiosity, why you didn't connect the 12v constant to one of the constant radio's wire instead of the battery ! Same thing with the kill switch, why you went all the way under the hood instead of connecting it with the wire going to the start button/key ?

Hi and thanks for watching. Check out my other install video where I went that route you mention! But yes, great question. The reason I went into the engine bay is that the Mini Cooper is very strange. The 12Vs I found under the dash were 12v, but after about 30 minutes, they weren’t. The GPS app would tell me that it was 0v after those 30~ minutes. And the key/button is a good cut (that’s how I did it on my other video) but the Mini Cooper key switch had a wire ribbon (like a computer) which I could not cut into. I figured demonstrating the way I did was not the most ideal, but it would be more universal.

Is it best for the health of the car to wire the yellow to the starter, versus the ignition switch?

Either is fine because they will prevent the car from even trying to start. Some people wire it to the fuel pump and I think that one is bad for the car since the starter will still work. Ignition is typically easier to wire since it's usually inside the dash vs in the engine bay. -James

How do you know which side of the starter wire is the power side and which side is the non power side?

Cut the wire and connect your multimeter to one side and have someone try to start it. Whichever side is getting voltage is the powered side.

It can be any number of things: car might throw a code, it might not detect the key, car might not turn on. Or it might not do anything lol.

Hello brother, I'm trying to connect this switch in two 12v contant from my car in the power button, so in that case when I activate the relay the power button just does dead. I spliced both of em and got em together (since they don't short and I can use two ends instead of four, just by turning both off it does the job, not one). I connect the yellow to the gps device as instructions says. Connect the two wires to both constant 12v that I need to put in between and connect the remaining wire to the power button (which would be no power at all). Whenever i try to trigger the relay by giving the comand it just doesn't work. I checked and the signal from the gps comes in 6.4v from the yellow wire and 0 (so it's giving electrical pulses from the server for sure) but even tho the relay doesn't get triggered. I'm also trying to connect the yellow wire in the gps and trying to trigger the relay switch with an 12v adapter I have by putting both wires of the relay on the positive terminal and the single one at the negative and whenever I send the command, nothing happens. I tried to invert negative, positive, put multiple cables wired up together, pray, rain dance but can't get this damn switch relay to get triggered. Do you have any insights to make it work? Let me try to help. I read it a couple times but don’t quite understand what you are saying exactly. What are you trying to have the kill switch do? Have you tried to wire the relay on something else?

@@CarSharingJho So basically I'm not being able to trigger the relay frok fuel pump/ignition. I do have a little 110/220 transformer to 12v constant. So basically I connect the 86 from the relay to the port 5 of the gps device. Combine 87A and 85 together to the positive end (constant 12v) and the negative terminal to 30. So when I send the command nothing happens. Tried to change the wires as much as I could. Tested the relay resistance and both ends (which clicks) even tested the end of the yellow or white wire from the device (port 5 and 10) which I directly connected to a multimeter and gives me 0 volts when I send the command to enable and gives me 0.63V when I disable, so that means the device is getting a pulse from the server. My car is a 2007 Prius. I'm trying to put the relay in between the ignition button, so in that way when disabled, the button push button becomes dead (i haven't found the immobilizer wiring).

Can this device tell you if the driver is doing a lot of hard braking or tight, high G turns/cornering, or spinning of the tires like doing burnouts? Those are the main features of the bouncy GPS tracker that I really like/want. However, this units ability to remote lock and unlock and the fact that it can't be disconnected from OBD2 is a huge factor as my car isn't capable of being enrolled with turo go. Is there any sort of product or hardware that can do both of these things?

This tracker doesn’t do any of the Bouncie features you listed. Some people use both a hardwired tracker and a OBD tracker with a y-splitter to hide it behind the dash.

Hey, so how does this work with leaving a set of keys in the car for a guest? Do I need a Faraday pouch to leave the keys in or will the car ignore the key fob and only unlock with the Trackmate signal even with a key fob inside the car? Also, what if you have 2 fobs, 1 in the car and 1 fob on you personally. Will the 2nd key fob you have on you personally still work, or will only the trackmate signal be able to unlock the vehicle after this install?

@@captainswagger9697 yes you would leave the keys in a faraday pouch. As for locking/unlocking, it depends on the vehicle make. The TrackMateGPS is locking the car as if you were triggering the button from the inside door so you can’t unlock it with the remote fob from the outside with some makes. Other car makes let you do it regardless where it’s locked from. Our Toyota Yaris has to be locked/unlocked from the TrackMateGPS app or else the remote fob doesn’t work. Vice versa too, if it’s locked with the key fob, the TrackMateGPS can’t unlock it. So you just have to use the same lock/unlock method. Ultimately you can always unlock it from the outside with the metal key that all cars have so there is no way of locking yourself out.

I'm having issues in my BMWs. When you lock BMWs they go into sleep mode, then the Trackmate GPS won't respond to any commands. Do you know how to go about this?

I'm sorry I honestly don't know how to solve that. Do you already have the trackmategps installed? I know Moovetrax has a very similar system and I think they have a solution for when that happens.

@Car Sharing Jho thanks for the reply and info about Moovetrax. I already installed the Trackmate and I am testing the system, that's when I discovered that the car is unresponsive when the BMW goes into deep sleep mode. I figured your Mini would behave similarly to a BMW?

You’ll need to wire an additional relay to it that sends a different electric frequency. It was a bit too complicated for my liking. Our Mazdas are the same way. I chose to just wire the unlock wire to the car wire.

That gps is time consuming, where the goldstar is just a plug and play unit. You are taking out the cars obd unit and pluging it into the GPS, than you take the GPS unit which is a obd and pluging it back in when the obd looks just like the obd unit. People can't tell the difference. Than you take the GPS transmitter and put it behind the odometer cluster It takes no more than 20 minutes to install
