This is exactly what I needed and after surfing KZbin I finally found how to have two operating systems on one computer. My second HHD has all the backpacked-up information of files and Windows 10 system files, but I didn't know how to start the Windows 10 system separately from the Windows 11 drive. The main reason for doing this is that I have some great program applications on the old drive that can't run on Windows 11. Thank you ipMalik.

If you are doing this on a desktop computer, then put this method aside and try installing Ubuntu another way, it will be a better option: kzbin.info/www/bejne/on-9l4uYg9Rgjbs One of the advantages of this method is the complete independence of the two OS from each other. The second advantage is data security. After all, if something unexpected happens to one of the OS, it will not affect the second OS in any way.

Thanks for such an amazing and simplified tutorial on this, all went well, I installed an additional copy of Win 11 24H2 on my D drive and installed Atlas Os on this, however I'm confused as to why the Windows Boot Menu is the old type (black background with white font and list view) but your video shows it as the modern Blue BG with white font, with tab kinda view. Please let me know how to fix this...thanks and appreciate your good work!!!

@@ipMalik Ohh okay, but is there a way to get this fixed to the modern look? Also my D drive is just a 121 GB SSD and the C drive is 256, my system is a HP ProDesk 4gen i5 with 16 GB RAM desktop that's unsupported for 24H2 but I bypassed the requirements using Rufus, and after personal files took up the remaining space in drive D, I could only shrink the D drive to 73 GB for the Win 11 24H2/ Atlas Os and noticed a significant slow down in system performance as it hangs terribly, and I'm left with ony 121 MB of free space left in D. I'm not sure if this is a temp issue and would like to clone the D partition Os to the main one in C drive maintaining dual boot, so is there a way to go about this without losing data on C drive? The C is for work and D is for personal and I've already screwed up drive C many times by doin different experiments and have frustrated my company's IT team so much, that they gave me a last warning about installing their remote software for my WFH work from home) use by me always installing a fresh OS on C most of the time. I'm sorry if this is not clear enough to understand. Thanks for the speedy response again. @@Tyson13204 Yes, your computer's technical data is quite suitable for stable operation of the new Windows 11, the only thing is, I don't know how to help you fix the menu for loading two different OS, I think that during the installation of the second Windows there was some glitch in the bootloader program and only for this reason the problem arose. I just installed Windows 10 from Windows 11 24A2 and on the computer the OS selection menu looks as usual, exactly the same as in my video. Perhaps Rufus made these changes.. I watched the video tutorial on your link and I'm not sure that it is necessary to use such a complex method. If there is nothing on your D drive yet, it is a clean Windows 11 without personal files, you can do the following: 1. Boot the computer from the C drive with the old system, hopefully it is Windows, open This PC and format the D drive. 2. Right-click the Start button and select Disk Management, in the window that opens, find the C drive, right-click on it and select "Shrink Volume". In the window that opens, select enough space for the second partition for the new Windows 11 and finish this process. You will see that a partition with unallocated space has been created next to drive C - this is the place for the new Windows 11, right-click on it and select "Create new volume", create a new volume without changing anything in the subsequent settings, open This PC After creating a new partition, connect the USB flash drive for the new Windows 11, and install the new Windows 11 according to this guide: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYq9k4N8fLKLiLc Install Windows 11 in the New Volume that you created next to drive C. During the installation, a new OS boot menu will be created, I think everything will be done fine. After that, you can do whatever you want with the second 121GB SSD. If you've never created partitions in Disk Management, you can watch this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGHLgnigZ7yWqa8

Help Please! after installing windows 10, I received an error code when rebooting to win10 (Error code:0xc000000e)
@ipMalik3 ай бұрын
Usually, BIOS looks different on different devices, but the essence remains the same. Enter BIOS/UEFI (usually you can enter it using the Esc key from the error screen) or force a reboot of the computer and after rebooting or turning on the computer, press the key Del or F2, after entering BIOS, go to the boot order settings (Boot tab or section). If there is a Windows Boot Manager item, set it as the first boot "device". If there is no such item, set the disk with the Windows 10 system as the first device. Check if the Fast Boot option is present in the BIOS/UEFI settings - if it is present, disable it (switch to Disabled). Press the F10 key, save the BIOS settings, reboot the computer and check if the boot is in progress. If you still see the error message 0xc000000e, and there is more than one physical disk on the computer, and in the second step you specified the disk with the system, try selecting another disk as the first boot device: it happens that the bootloader program is not on the same disk where the system is. If all this does not solve the problem, let me know and I will try to help you.

First I just want to say thanks for the helpful video and taking the time to help so many people in the comments. When it comes to security, is there any major improvement by having a separate Boot and Recovery partition for each drive? Or should they be on the same one? I say this because it's hard to remove my NVME's from my PC (heatsink and under big bulky gpu) and want 2 completely separate environments for another person in my house to use. Think of it as 2 user profiles, but upgraded. Do you think, for this situation, it would be better to have separate, or combined partitions for Boot and Recovery?
@ipMalik4 ай бұрын
To be completely safe when using two operating systems on two different physical disks, you must install the OS on the first disk while disabling the second disk, then install the OS on the second disk while disabling the first disk. Then you will boot disks not using the bootloader, but using the Boot Menu, this is the most reliable and safe way to use different OSes on different Physical disks. Yes, it’s difficult to physically remove NVME, but maybe you can do it once when you install the OS on another disk? Or you can try to disable NVME in the BIOS, my BIOS does not have such a function, most likely it depends on the motherboard model, but in my BIOS you can disable all SATA drives without problems, and without having to pull out the cables from the drives, you can do this in the BIOS not difficult at all.

Hi, the method of installing two OS on two physical disks can only have one problem, if some failure occurs with the computer and the OS bootloader is damaged, then one of the OS will stop loading. Therefore, I suggest before installing the second OS on the second disk, disconnect the first disk from the SATA cable or do it in the BIOS, this method allows each OS to work completely autonomously and independently of each other. To install Windows on a second physical disk, and then format the first disk and use it as data storage, do the following: 1. Prepare a bootable USB flash drive to install new Windows on the second disk. 2. Turn off the computer, unplug the power cable or SATA cable from the first drive, and connect the second drive to the computer. 3. Install new Windows on the second disk. 4. Turn off the computer and connect the SATA cable or power cable to the first drive. 5. Turn on the computer and immediately call up the boot menu, select the second disk and press Enter. Now you can transfer the necessary files from the first disk to the second disk, then format the first disk and this will not affect Windows on the second disk.

I am trying to install two instances of Windows 11 on the same computer. Unfortunatelly, when I am installing the new system, I am loosing the access to the already existing one, as bootloader is replaced. How can I install two W11 systems and keep both bootable?
@ipMalik11 ай бұрын
Yes, when installing a second Windows you will get this problem and this happens because the new Windows “sees” the first OS. But there is a way to get around this problem and to do this you need to do the following: 1. Before installing Windows number 1, disconnect the SATA cables from all other drives of your computer, and of course, before disconnecting and connecting the SATA cable to the drives, you must turn off the computer every time. If there are other drives connected to your computer for storing data, then they should all be disconnected until you install both Windows on two drives. 2. After installing Windows number 1, disconnect the SATA cable from the drive with Windows number 1 and connect the drive on which you will install Windows number two. 3. After installing Windows 2 on the second disk, turn off the computer again and now you can connect SATA cables to all disks. When you finish all this, turn on the computer and enter the BIOS, open the Boot tab and in boot priority put in first place the disk with Windows that you will use most. Press F10 and save changes. The computer will reboot and Windows will automatically be loaded, which you set first in the BIOS as a boot priority. 4. To boot your computer with Windows number 2, you need to turn on or restart the computer and immediately call the Boot Menu, in this menu you can select the Windows you need.

@@ipMalik Hi. Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately, the issue I have here could be more complex. I am trying to install these system son M.2 (NVME) drives, which makes disconnecting them much more awkward. I have tried installing both systems with both drives in, and it didn't work. After that, I removed one drive and installed the second system again, but I couldn't load it up after inserting the drive with the first system. I have installed the first system again, with the second one still connected to the PC, and it worked??? I am still trying to understand why Windows decided to see both bootloaders this time. It is a mystery which I may never solve :D Anyway, thank you for your help :)
@Ji-James11 ай бұрын
@@jamjestrysiek Hi. Yes, Windows sometimes gives us riddles🙂 Of course, connecting and disconnecting NVME is much more difficult than HDD or SSD, but if you do as I suggested in the previous comment, then in the future you will NEVER have problems with the Windows bootloader. I assume that when installing the OS on two different physical disks, the problem with the Windows boot loader occurs for the following reason: At the time of installing Windows number 1, the bootloader can install Windows on drive C on the first NVME drive, and the bootloader sends a small system partition or some element of Windows number 1 that supports the operation of the OS to drive 2 NVME. When you start installing Windows number 2 on the second NVME disk, the bootloader formats the second disk and deletes the small system partition that belongs to Windows number 1. As a result, Windows number 1 stops working.. After that, you again install Windows number one on the first disk, and if its small system partition ends up on the second disk, Windows 1 will work without problems. But if you reinstall Windows number 2, or some problem happens to Windows number 2, then Windows number 1 will stop loading again. On the computer where I do most of my work, two SSDs are connected and different Windows are installed on each disk, which I installed independently of each other in the same way as I told you in the previous comment. I do the main work in Windows 11 on disk 1, on the second disk I constantly reinstall various OSes, which is necessary for my activities, and before each installation I disconnect all other disks from the computer so that there are no problems with the bootloader.
@jamjestrysiek11 ай бұрын
@@Ji-James So, does it mean tnat if I will lose the system which was installed as the second, I will also loose ability to log to both of systems?
@ipMalik11 ай бұрын
@@jamjestrysiek This will depend on the reason why the second OS is lost - if you simply reinstall the second system or format the second disk, then the bootloader that supports loading the first OS may be deleted along with the files on the second disk. I will also add that this fact may not necessarily happen, that is, not 100%, but it may well happen depending on how the OS was initially installed and which OS was installed as number 1 in Boot Priority. Something like this has already happened on your computer when you lost access to one of the OS. Only disconnecting all disks from the computer except the one on which you will install Windows will protect against this kind of problem. Moreover, the disconnection does not have to be physical, that is, disconnecting the SATA cable or, in your case, disconnecting the NVME from the motherboard; you can also disconnect one of the drives in the BIOS before installing the OS and not remove the NVME from the computer. After installation in the BIOS, disconnect the disk with the new OS and connect a second disk to install the second OS. I hope that now I have told you everything in detail.

Sorry for not answering you for a long time, I was in places outside of civilization without the Internet😊 It is not necessary to install two OS on two different physical disks, here is a way to split one disk and install two OS on it:

You don't need to change anything, especially on the data disk, because you can lose all the data if you change the partition scheme.

@@AbuAyesha-y1f So, now you don't need to look for what partition scheme is on your disks, and first you need to download a small free application from Microsoft to check your laptop for compatibility with Windows 11. Click on this link: support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/how-to-use-the-pc-health-check-app-9c8abd9b-03ba-4e67-81ef-36f37caa7844 download the application to check the laptop and install it on the laptop. After installing the application, run it, and in the window that opens you will see whether you can install Windows 11 or not. If the application shows that there are no restrictions for your laptop, then you need to make a bootable USB flash drive Windows 11, how to make this flash drive is shown in my video, the only thing is, you need to open the download page not Windows 10, but Windows 11 at this link: www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11 all other actions are exactly the same as in my video. If the application shows that your laptop is not compatible with Windows 11, then you can bypass the restrictions and install Windows 11 on the laptop in another way: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYbVYWqondCrmJo How to install Windows 11 specifically on HDD, watch my actions in my video, I made this video in real time, carefully repeat my actions and you will succeed!

So every time you start one windows, it changes drive letters? Is it possible to make drive letters permanent for both windows? I mean, I have my projects disk and I want it to have the same drive letter in both windows, so I'll be sure paths to files are the same
@ipMalik7 ай бұрын
If you change the drive letter that already contains Windows or applications, the applications may have problems starting or finding the drive. To avoid problems, I recommend not changing the drive letter of a drive that already contains Windows and applications. Try setting the path in each Windows project to the drive letters that Windows sees.

@@ipMalikMy situation may be like this: I have three physical drives: C, D and E So currently windows is installed in C and projects files in D. I want to install another windows 10 in E But I want my projects files always to be in a drive with letter D, I don't want it to be another letter when starting with the other windows in E How to ensure drive with projects files will have same letter?
@ipMalik7 ай бұрын
@ Now I understand your question. Before installing Windows 10 on drive E, you need to turn off the computer and disconnect the SATA cables from drive C and drive D, or you can disable these drives in the BIOS. After installing Windows 10, reconnect drive D, and it will be detected as drive D. After that, turn off the computer and connect drive C. Then turn on the computer, load Windows 10 and now drive C will be detected as drive E. If I explained something unclearly, ask me and I will answer.

@@ipMalik laptop sir, i was planning to buy an ssd +caddy and replacing my dvd slot with it Its supposed to be just for backup but im thinking why not installing windows 10 on it too. (My current os is windows 7)
@ipMalik9 ай бұрын
@@Hyde_Tolut I understood you. If you connect the SSD yourself, then apparently it will not be difficult for you to do the following: 1. Before connecting the second drive, make a bootable USB flash drive for Windows 10 2. Connect the SSD to the laptop and disconnect the drive with Windows 7; to do this, you can remove the SATA cable or power cable from the drive with Windows 7. 3. Connect a bootable USB flash drive to the laptop and install Windows 10 on the SSD; installing a new Windows 10 in this way will not affect the disk with Windows 7 in any way. 4. After this, you can reconnect the cable that you disconnected earlier to the Windows 7 drive. 5. Immediately after turning on the laptop, enter the BIOS, and in the Boot section, set the boot priority to the first disk that will be your main one. 6. You can also choose which Windows to boot using the Boot Menu, that is, after turning on the laptop, you need to call up the Boot Menu, select the required disk and press Enter. This method of installing two OSes on two physical disks is the safest for saving data on both disks.

@@Hyde_Tolut If you install Windows 10 on the second disk, you need to disconnect the first disk so that later the two Windows can work independently of each other. Then any problem on one of the Windows will not affect the other Windows.

If two Windows are installed on two physical disks, you will always see the other disk when opening This PC. Perhaps I didn't understand your question..
