How to install WATER temperature gauge & How to install OIL pressure gauge in Chevy 350 PART 10

In this video, Ill show you how to install water temperature gauges, and how to install oil pressure gauges in your classic American muscle car if you don't have them already. I bought a really CHEAP unit, but when I do this again I'll go for a better quality unit for sure. But the install goes about the same, attached the aux gauge faceplate to the underside of your dash, then run the line from the oil pressure gauge to the oil pressure port on your chevy small box 350 motor (next to the distributor), then run the plastic line from the water temperature gauge to an open port on your block or in my case the intake. I didn't hook up the volt gauge yet, but will down the road.

I don't recommend the kit I bought over at HF, I would go for a MOON unit or etc if I was to do this again.
The time it took to install the water temperature gauge and to install the oil pressure gauge in my 1967 Pontiac Firebird with SBC 350 was about an hour or so. But at least now I can see how hot the motor is running and if I am getting oil pressure.

Hey, I know its been months, but I'm about to do the same on my 1980 camaro. Do you happen to know if this gauge set fits in that spot in front of the gear shifter? It looks perfect for it and I'm about to try it out but wanted to know if you happened to remember

@@yeagerj7747 yes sir! I have mine setup under the radio area in front of the shifter. Works perfectly 👌 I used a equus oil/water/volt setup. Hope that helps

Mechanical is the way to go. Get rid of the flimsy plastic line and get the copper line kit. Stewart Warner OIL PRESSURE LINE GAUGE KIT COPPER 1/8" Diameter 6 ft. 82553-F, Autometer makes one also. I also bought a water neck from NAPA Part #: BK 6051019 or Dorman 902-2009 Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing they have the provision to add the water tempt prob, I use this set up on my 73 Nova. I got this set up idea from some local hotrod racers.😎

Thanks for the vid! No judgement, just a suggestion for others and next time... I saw in a different vid suggesting testing the temp sender (and new thermostats) in a pot of boiling water to check for accuracy before hooking it up as the quality of new parts, etc isn't what it used to be. Looking forward to you firing up the 'bird!

I have a Land Rover 2006 I have to keep my current gauge working otherwise my computer's will be worse than they normally are... I use an inline top hose adapter with a water temperature threaded hole, worked great...

For a longterm set of gauges it would probally be best to invest in some electric gauges because those mechanical gauges have so many problems with those cheezy oil lines breaking and spraying oil everywhere.

Unless you are going to spend the money and get a quality one like AutoMeter , I don't recommend electronic gauges. The sending units on the chinese ones are trash, just straight garbage. They go out quick if they work at all and are far too often inaccurate! Mechanical gauges are reliable and inexpensive.

It's called a Compression Fitting Nut,,the 'BELL" looking thing is called Ferrell..Just an FYI everyone...DO NOT USE THAT plastic tubing get some 1/8" copper tubing....As you can over tighten the nut an cut it and over time it will become brittle..Think a minute how much of a mess that would be in side. High pressure and "HOT" oil

Yes should be about the same, the gauge and sender are the two items that make it work with just about anything.

I'm in agreement. I'm using a more electronic looking one. I broke the water temp in my lap. Is it safe to use Teflon on the oil sensor? I need help gentlemen.

I don't like to use tape on the threads, sometimes the treads are part of the grounding

I have one that runs the little temp light on my dash and a second one running the temp gauge I just installed, so yes 2.

All I wanted to kno was did the gauges work...not complaining about how it went in a particular car...guess I'll have to do my own review on the actual kit not the installation...cause no matter the brand...installation will be the same ..fishing wires and hoses thru the fire wall...nobody wants to do that but thats what's need to insatll...
