Hi, I have a windows 10 Home for refurb pcs installed in my current laptop, and on the sticker there is a product key. My question is, can I download windows 11 to a USB and use that to install the windows 11 on a new laptop, while using that windows 10 product key? (While on the microsoft webiste I have an option to download the WIndows 11 update, as well as to download it to a USB) Or do I have to buy a new windows 11 license...?

No, you need another USB because you need something to plug into the laptop to install it.

This is either for a new PC or clean install. You'll need to do an upgrade to keep files

Yep. If you want to keep your files, you will need to perform a Windows upgrade. This is done within Windows itself. Either way, its prudent to have a backup of your important files. Better safe than sorry.

You can get a USB WiFi adapter on Amazon to plug into your pc to get internet.

No. The tool just downloads a fresh copy of Windows and puts the files on a USB drive. It makes absolutely no sense (nor is it possible) for the tool to remove Windows from the computer it is running on.

hey robtech, so i am building a brand new computer pc full of msi parts, all in all i meet all of the requirements for windows 11, but wanted to make sure that I don't have to have a product license key in order to do this as you've showed. somebody had told me that In order for me to install windows 11 on a brand new computer i have to first install windows 10 and THEN install windows 11 afterwards. i'm guessing i just have to do everything step by step as you've shown here, but just wanted to confirm all of this with you?

@@rihablahmer8515 Yeah I actually fixed it by swapping out one of my nvme ssd from my laptop to my pc and ran a clean installation and it worked. so now i know it was my ssd so it was my ssd issue. But i havent ran a clean install on my laptop yet for windows to see if maybe the options in the bios. hope this helps a bit.

When I go to Create Windows 11 Installation Media and run the program it gives me an error. Same with the Assistant. Running windows 7 and trying to upgrade to 11 is a real bitch.

You can use Rufus to make the installation media with the Windows 11 ISO file. rufus.ie/en/

Try using Rufus instead. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoTNpISijaydoLs. If your PC meets the Windows 11 requirements, no need to change the ISO type to Extended.

Media creation does not carry over your windows product key, it's just for reinstalling. You would need to sign in to MS account and copy your key over to your new install on the new machine, or buy another license.

Look up the model number of the laptop and find the official drivers or use AVG driver updater
