Do you know if the 72 mustang coupe has the same style seal? I can’t find much info on the 71-73. When I took my front and rear glass out, the seal came out in pieces and all of the clips were rusted out. I (think?) it had urethane on the back one with no rubber seal that pulled into the car with rope, but I don’t know. I don’t really know what I need for seals to do it right. I took the glass out like a year and a half ago and am getting ready to put it back in soon. I’m having trouble finding seal kits for the front and back, so I’m thinking maybe it’s done differently?

kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWKbl3yBrc6Bebs I would watch this video. Looks like they switched to a more modern windshield design in 71 with a glue in style. That's why you can't find the molded gasket for it. But that video shows how to do it essentially.

Great video as always Alf! Need to muster up the courage to do this on my ‘65. My gasket and windshield I’m pretty sure have never been replaced. Is it possible that this could be a source of water ingress into the car due to an old windshield gasket? It’s old and hard and full of big cracks. I’ve done the cowl cap repair and installed block off plates in the cowls when I installed my Vintage Air a/c kit over the summer. Those are sealed up tight. This is the only thing I can think of where I’m getting water in the car still. Thank you as always, and Happy Holidays!

Hey thanks Tim! So yes the windshields are super common to leak. They are also super common to leak after replacing the seal. Since I've made this video, I've learned a lot about how to do this better. So what I have come up with is the video that Bill from CJ's puts out is actually pretty dang good and should be what you follow rather than mine. In particular the part where he installs the strip caulk into the gasket before installing it. That is the key to keeping the water from getting in. On yours, one thing you can do to confirm that its actually leaking is just pour a cup of water in the upper left corner of the window trim and then watch the driver floor for drips. You can do this on both sides to confirm your suspicions. I hope that helps and happy holidays to you as well!
