I fought doing this full tear down at first, but this was hands down the best way to do it. Your videos were great. I had the hard lines on the radiator that was my biggest obstacle, but I was able to save them with a vise and a torch.

Glad the videos were helpful! I also really resisted the full teardown the first time I did one. But it really is easy to get to that state and it gives more room to work especially on the lines depending on the configuration. I also had one with lines frozen in the rad so cool to hear you were able to get them out on the bench 👍

@@VortexGarage you were 100 percent right. It took minutes to get the front end off. Half of my dads jeep was already zip ties holding it together anyway. Thanks again.

I did both videos 25 and 26 and it was perfect. I did get all 4 shroud screws in also! Thank you for both videos!

How in the world do you know what goes where? What nuts and bolts go into what and what parts go back where? I would be screaming for help. I am a pilot and flight instructor. I can fly planes but that automotive tech stuff is out of my class. Thank God for people like yourself.

Jeep chic here. changed radiator. 2001 grand cherokee straight six. no removal of bumper, just hoses, fan connection. was all.

Good to know! I've yet to try it that way but can see how it would work. Which transmission cooler setup? I'd imagine it may be a slightly harder reach if external transmission cooler setup? Next one I do I will try that way. That said I had gotten good at removing the bumper so it was only about 15min to do, and gave so more more room and view I often just did it anyway. Need to try without though.

29:00 would a dab of sil-glyde slide pin lube be good to put on the receptacle where the back of the headlight assembly catches into position ?

Is there more than one OEM radiator used in those vehicles? For instance,does the trailer tow package use a different one?
@VortexGarage Жыл бұрын
I think I the only difference is I-6 to V8. Those are different. Otherwise the differences with tow packages seem to change how the transmission cooler is setup. Most seem to use the rad but seen some like this i6 that have a cooler as part of the condenser

Way easier going together than apart,great vidieo!!! Have a differant issue with my 2002 wj 4.7l its fuel filter related.i was trying to put new one in and i kinked bottom nylon fuel hose that goes into steel line.i see no clamp that holds it to steel line.looks as though its heat shrunk into place.is that true or something else would like to replace before it breaks in half or causes issue.i gave up on changing it,but still want it done.no issues running at this time even with kink,could be just a return line.but like to fix before its a problem.any ideas or vids on repairs?????snookie pa.!!!!!help!!!!*********please....

I have a 2001 GC Laredo and its having minor overheat issues... how much difference could a new radiator make? Maybe old one has too many bent fins
@VortexGarage2 жыл бұрын
4.0 inline 6 or 4.7? A heavily clogged radiator could definitely contribute. 4.7l I'd also suspect a thermostat issue first. Anything with mechanical fan (4.0) I'd also want to check fan clutch (when not runn of course 😎). So yes radiator could cause this but I'd probably inspect the rest of system first.
@summertimehighyt2732 жыл бұрын
@@VortexGarage thanks so much. 4.0 inline. Upon further visual inspection. Engine got done running and was sitting close to 200 after a few minute drive. Electric fan wasn’t going and I thought 180 was it’s kick on. Hoping it’s a dead electric fan and radiator flush needed.
@VortexGarage2 жыл бұрын
@@summertimehighyt273 That does sound like a potential cause. I don't recall the electric fan cut on temp but figure 200 seems high enough. Also should come on with AC on max...
