@mrabuilders6723 so if you're not installing a vapour barrier where does the moisture go when it escapes past the foil tape and hits the cold boards behind?l, because that's doesn't look much of a gap to circular air. But it is hard to judge from the video. And funnily enough I was brought here after looking for one of Steve's videos to send to someone.

At long last a builder that actually takes time to allow for lights. Normally the builders just poke them through the ceiling with celotex butter up the plaster board and expects down lights

How do your down lights not overheat when put in that void i thought they need ventilation. Unless your using fire rated LED lights?
@MrManningata6 ай бұрын
Finally someone offering some kind of solution for using downlights with solid insulation. I'm looking at going from the other direction, replacing tired mineral wool insulation with solid, replacing swinging pendant bulbs with downlights, and adding more insulation on top of the joists, then wooden boards for loft insulation. I'm not sure how you could do this installation from the other side, though.

How you doin fella that bloody noise from cutting inso board lol grits me teeth lol fair play tho does any of it need fire lining cause the regs changed on that jus a heads up had to drop 125mm Inso in the ceiling so had to take boards down and add another 25mm onto the 100 I’d already installed
@mrabuilders6723 Жыл бұрын
Ah man I feel your pain! Sorry to hear that mate, the new regs can really make you come a cropper! This job started before the new regs came in though so thankfully we're all good.

Yeah it was more for the fire reg was a garage with flat roof luckily the drop ceiling I dropped in I used 8” timbers so had the room for extra inso

Hi guys, good video. Can you tell me where you got the foil tape from? with no release paper and do you know what the brand name is please. Like you said, it’s a real pain peeling off the backing tape, and not having to do that, would make my life so much easier. Keep up the videos and thanks for the good real world construction information.

Could use standard down lights with that space,those low profile one are prone to failing and then your left with a massive hole

Good job guys although I'm not being funny but if that's a new build why not build it a bit higher to allow for more roof void or is this a customer afterthought?
@mrabuilders6723 Жыл бұрын
Hi Kelly this is an existing house and we had already dropped the ceiling on the first floor for more loft head height as you may have seen in other episodes. It couldn’t go down anymore because of the window heights. Thanks for watching
