Good video, thank you. In regard to the garage door opener working too hard to open the door. My test is to disconnect the arm that goes from the garage door to the door opener. Once disconnected, an elderly person or child should be able to lift the door open by hand. Then, if need be, the spring tension should be adjusted until the door can be lifted.

You're welcome and good input on adjusting the door, while I have always left the maintenance and adjustment of the door to a Garage Door professional (I had a close one where I almost seriously injured myself when I was messing with one) I'm sure there are folks out there with the knowledge and skills to do it. Cheers friend!

@@AlexAutoFun Oh yes, I can understand having professionals make the adjustment. But the professional guys adjusted mine so that the door motor was straining. And I was disturbed by that. When you think about it, it's to their benefit if they adjust it so it wears out the motor. I made them come back and I lied to them and said that the elderly person in the house had to be able to lift the door in an emergency. And then they adjusted it so it didn't strain the motor and it could be lifted by hand.

@@discerningmind LOL! wow same as some car mechanics! (which was the reason I started to do all my own work on cars, don't trust others working on them) I may have to get myself smart on working on garage doors...

This is so far the only video I can locate mentioned about the additional added weight (12 lbs per kit) which may put stress on the opener. This is important because I have a 30+ years older weaker 1/3 HP & 1/2 HP model garage opener. Thanks for the information and thank for the sharing the installation procedure.

You're welcome! What is also interesting is another viewer who is familiar with garage doors, mention there is a way to decrease or increase the lifting force on the garage door (a spring) separate from the opener itself. So while I imagine that will can help to decrease the additional load placed on the motor I would leave the door adjustment to a professional. Cheers!

Love your review videos, good amount of information at the right pace. Only suggestion on this video was you really should have been wearing gloves and a respirator as I bet your hands and possible your lungs were itchy after this.
@AlexAutoFun
@AlexAutoFun 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Maxwell! yeah I would agree a respirator and gloves definitely help against the fiberglass fibers. I think because of all the work I done on cars the skin on my hands is so hard and callused I can't feel a thing anymore haha!

Hey, thanks for the video. can you clarify how you did the gorilla tape installation? Did the tape cover the sides of each pocket and the insulation material? Or is the tape only applied to the edge of the insulation material to make it more ridgid?
@AlexAutoFun
@AlexAutoFun 2 жыл бұрын
You're welcome Rita! Regarding the tape, yes the tape overlaps both the end of the garage door pocket and the insulation itself so it effectively keeps the insulation from pooping out of the door pocket. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Did this make any difference on how loud the garage door was when it opens?? Or does it clank and rattle just as loud??
@AlexAutoFun
@AlexAutoFun 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Gage! I did not hear any difference on how loud the doors is when opening. However I was a able to quite down a loud door by lubricating the wheels and track by spraying some wd-40 on it. Hope this helps and thanks for watching bud!
@doanpham972
@doanpham972 2 жыл бұрын
@@AlexAutoFun It's probably better to use a silicone spray lubricant to lubricate, WD-40 is abbreviated as "Water Displacement trial #40" mainly good for loosing rust and removal of water. WD-40 will quickly evaporate in a couple days, thus is not a true lubricant. Although they do make other products such as silicone lubricant under their "WD-40" branding. Also the wheel probably don't need lubricant as much as the brackets that flex and hold the wheels as then spin while the garage door is in operation.

Did it keep the garage cool and warm depending on the weather?
@AlexAutoFun
@AlexAutoFun 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lynda! yeah it definitely made a difference both in summer and winter however you got to look at all sides of the garage, now that my walls and door is insulated my next spot to work on is the roof as that is where I'm now getting heat and cold from, so the Garage door alone won't make a huge difference unless you start working on the other sides as well. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Hi Veasna! It's hard to saw in numbers because this will greatly depend on your garage, if all your walls are insulated, if your roof is insulated, what type of insulation was used (R-rating), the direction of your garage's door in relation to the sun etc. So you want to look at this Garage door insulation as only one part of a whole insulation system. However I can tell you it definitely made a difference for me both in summer and winter. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
