Also important to note is that the mini fuse can be used in place of a low profile fuse. I just installed the rove hardwire kit and my car uses the low profile fuse but for some reason the low profile piggy back fuse that was provided in the kit would not fit into the low profile fuse sockets of my car's fuse box . If you feel as though you have to force in a piggy back fuse specifically the low profile one you can definitely use the mini fuse version that is provided in the rove hardwire kit to work around it.

Got some cheap dash cams for gifts. Reasoning behind cheap is probably made by same manufacturers anyway? First one I opened has USB C connection, plugged it at kitchen table to turn it on. Won't power up. Can't tell if defective or is it me. About to try with it's cigarette lighter power adapter. Do some of these ONLY work with the supplied adapter I'm wondering? Thanks, anybody!

Hi! Yes some dash cam brands use contract manufacturers to actually build the product (iPads for example are build by Foxconn instead of Apple). Regarding power supply, yes dash cams have specific power requirements, I recommend using only approved power adapters to power them, Cheers!

I believe that Hardware Kit is only needed if you don't have a cigarette lighter that stays hot when the vehicle is turned off. In my case my cigarette lighter plug stays hot even with the ignition off. So i didn't need that hardware kit. I know some of those power adapters do turn off when the ignition is turned off.

Hi! If your cigarette lighter port turns off and on when you turn on and off you car, then the dash cam will come on and off with the car (so it will not drain you car battery). But if your plug is always on even when the car is off, I use one of this ones amzn.to/3BofzJI to control the lighter port manually and ensure the dash cam turns off and not drain the car's battery, Cheers!

@@AlexAutoFun In my particular case my Cigarette lighter stays on. Even with the ignition off which is nice because I didn't need the hardware kit. I believe the hardware kit if needed would pull the same amount of energy as a cigarette lighter connection would.

Yes the hardwire kit uses the same amount of power than the cigarette lighter plug, the difference is that the hardwire kit is able to pull power from the vehicle when the vehicle is off where the cigarette lighter plug does not (assuming that it is switched on your vehicle). Now since yours stays on, the power draw is higher since the dash cam does not enter park mode and instead it stays one constantly like if the vehicle was running. @@AlexAutoFun Can I still enable Parking Mode since my power source is a constant hot from the cigarette lighter and doesn't turn off with the ignition? How would the camera know when to go into Parking mode? I assume with the hardwired kit it detects when the ignition is turned off to enable the parking mode.

Hi! The Key fob does not add remote start unless your car already has it. However remote start can be added to the car using a kit like this one amzn.to/2Z12Xsr The contents of the remote start key would then be transferred to the LCD key fob that way you won't have to carry two key fobs. Hi! Yes the scanner does support learning components, just remember that actually being able to program a specific component varies from vehicle to vehicle. Thinkdiag does accepts VIN numbers if you want them to check if it will be able to access the specific function you need, Cheers!

I am looking for the adapter that fits a 2018 Accord EX-L 2.0. It has an auto dimming mirror but there is no port on the back of the mirror. I went to the FitDVR website and they recommended the 3 pin. Can anyone confirm that 3 pin adapter fits a 10th gen Accord with auto dimming mirror?

Hi! The hardwire kits I use has a low voltage cut off to reduce the possibility of battery drain. Keep in mind some hardwire kits do not have this cut off and will stay on continuously. The rocker switches are the weakest point in all these probes , reengineer and install an automotive 12 volt plug in relay . There are many knock off rebrands of this tool . Piercing wires is future work for mechanics ! Always stated the most dangerous person in the world is a truck driver with a toolbox equipped with a SHARP POINTED test light .
