Hi S! The adapter pulls power from the mirror area of the vehicle but the actual function from where power is pulled from depends on the vehicle. The vehicle shown on the video for example uses power from the ADAS system which drives lane detection (my mirror itself is not powered). You're installer can confirm if your vehicle has power going to the mirror area of your vehicle. I also placed the link to the adapter for Honda in the video description, Cheers!

Most have switched power to this area, but some do have constant power, potentially enabling you to monitor your car while parked. I have the v2. Why is the rear cam so dark/dim? I've had a pelsee 10in dash cam before and the rear cam even tho it's 720p it can record brighter and better videos. This one has higher frame rate but it's super dim

While I may be possible to use a different hardwire kit on a dash cam, I usually recommend sticking to the matching hardwire kit for the dash cam (specified by the brand) to ensure that there are no functional issues or issues with warranty coverage. Finally I figured out if this camera can switch OFF the speed stamp before buying it, thank you so much! Just making sure I buy one that won't incriminate me in case of an accidetnt if I am somewhat over the speed limit. I don't get why this information is so hard to find anywhere else. I guess the F7NP has that option too?

While mine did not require re-calibration (I'm often disconnecting things in this area for different installs and maintenance), I do think this is a critical component that requires a professional installer to determine the proper procedure when plugging and replugging the same sensor (I follow my service manual, mine again does not require it). Additionally, there is the potential something could go wrong during the installation and/or later during the life of the product. Finally, there is also the issue of an aftermarket device and its effect on the vehicle's warranty. Yes while the scanner supports IMMO access being able to add a key will depend on how many keys you have, if your car requires a new pin code, if you are adding a new key fob or a used one etc. In some cases a dedicated IMMO tool will also be needed if you are trying to re-use a previously assigned key fob where you need to make it "virgin" again using the dedicated IMMO tool, or if you are trying to clone a key outside of the vehicle (and other locksmith level functions). Thinkcar does accepts VIN numbers if you want them to check if it will be able to perform the function you need. Cheers!

Looks like a nice camera. The night time shot showed a car in the distance and the headlights looked extremely bright. Night time test with approaching oncoming traffic would help tell us if it just completely washes out.

Hi R! Ah the camera has automatic exposure control (most backup cameras have this now) so it decreases exposure when there is brighter objects to reduce overexposure (washout). You can kind of see that if you look at the night sky, notice how it changes from light to dark when there are brighter sources in the image. Now that being said, if there are car headlights directly behind you, aimed straight at the camera, yeah definitely the image will be affected (what I describe as someone shinning a light directly at yours eyes lol) as basically it exceeds the capability of the image sensor to compensate with exposure control. This is something we see commonly in dash cams since those are used while driving around where bright headlights directly behind the vehicle are common (such as in stop lights). This is actually a very interesting topic since it comes up in dash cams often and I have a video in the works covering this in more detail, stay tuned, Cheers!

Hi A! On the memory card It is saved to the "Park" folder, it's purpose is for Park Monitoring which is why the Time Lapse will be under the "Park" folder (and if using the App, they are found under the "Locked" folder) Cheers!

Hi 0! Yes, older cars do not have an OBD2 port since OBD2 became mandatory around 1996 (in the USA) so if your car is older than that it may be possible your car may not have one yet or you may have a proprietary connector. Cheers!

Great video! I do have questions... the FitDVR website says only compatible with Auto Dimming mirror. The video doesn't look line an auto dimming mirror. Which is correct? we have a 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV and a 2024 Nissan Frontier that we want to put dash cams in and use the FitDVR.

6:35 If your mirror is powered all the time you'll also need deep discharge protection, otherwise you might find you car doesn't start anymore if it's been parked for a few days.

Hi J! Good point, probably would make sense to set the dash cam to limit the amount of park monitoring to help that case also (some dash cams allow for specific recording time duration). The other thing I do to reduce power consumption and extend park monitoring is: use low bit recording, use motion detection only, use time lapse, decrease the resolution, turn off any unneeded channels, enable screen time out, just really depends on the dash cam that I'm using, some can be configured more or less. Hi S! Most dash cams that require a 3 lead hardwire kit will usually need all 3 wires to be connected in order for the dash cam to work correctly. What I recommend when someone does not need park monitoring, is just to turn it off in the settings menu (most dash cams will let you turn off this feature). Cheers!

Hello. Is it mandatory to turn on the wifi of this dashcam before driving? Or should you only turn it on if you want to download a video from the app? Also, how can you see the footage of your car if you have parking mode with the hardwire kit installed? I do not see any footage and I have the 24 hour selection.

Hi A! Just depends on preference since using the Wifi App is optional. I usually leave my Wifi off since I hardly use the App. And others leave their Wifi on all the time (if the dash cam allows). Since most people don't seem to change the default password imo leaving the Wifi off when not being used seems like the best option, Cheers!
