I talked to Fraser and he said that they have recently gone out of print. This link is to the cheapest I could find, but there is a limited stock of them and they will probably go up after these ones have been bought.

About the SOFTWARE I use in the video: A huge amount of my production involves Adobe CC (my affiliate link tinyurl.com/v7fvqgo) I use Adobe photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, Audition and sometimes Animate. I would be nowhere without these softwares. You can get them all with a comfortable monthly subscription, or you can get subscriptions to individual plans. Check them out and see what works for you. The main software I'm using to actually animate frame by frame is called TVPaint. Here's more information on that: www.tvpaint.com/ It's a great software :) And if you need a Graphics tablet, I highly recommend this one for you ballers out there: geni.us/vy8xUZB It's the best tablet money can buy :) And here's a great low-low cost alternative: geni.us/LLYv

I thought I would never make animation, but one day I tried it for fun and it became so addictive, it's so incredible to see your drawings to life...and you have to think like a movie director, really a very hard but rewarding job

The way this was explained is awesome. My teacher had a 2 hr video on layouts, and not gonna lie, i couldn't get thru it. This explenation is short and very comprehensive, and actually learned more about the thought process than my teacher's video. Thank you.

Ahh, the before times when people gathered without fear. Super awesome video. Thanks for sharing your experience with raw footage and all your knowledge and made up words. I've been glued to your videos for the last few days now. Ran across your videos because I have a few story ideas that I'm wanting to make an animation out of. I feel your videos have sped up my understanding about animation and storytelling in general tremendously! I caught that last 5-10 minutes of your 2021 animation contest. Amazing shorts and thanks for hosting things like this. Maybe I can have my animation ready for the next one.

Things animators forget to tell, You need to learn 1. Drawing 2. Good drawing 3. Perspection 4. Camera angles 5. Background drawing 6. Character's representation. 7. Character's anatomy

@Mister Sir some people can draw good portraits but have hard time to draw the exact same face on next page, in a basic means you need proper drawing skills to get to that level, and for that you need basic drawing skills, which is very crucial for animation, so 2 points for drawing and good drawing. For perspective it was a grammatical mistake for which i apologize, Camera angles and perspective are basically same, but terms and techniques are different and any beginner will have a hard time comprehending this, high angle low angle 1 point 2 point, so i think both need to be accounted, As for background drawings, you need a different skill sets than drawing characters, in characters you need anatomy, how they move, In background you need basic understanding of environments, how they work on different plane than characters, and ,perspective, shadin gs are some of the common things in both, you know there are lots of form in drawings also, And What i wanted to say that as a tutorial for animation, they should atleast include all of these points, so when a beginner sees these, he will get a basic knowledge of where to start, and not just indulge in advanced stuff, and disappoint themselves.

Congratulations on your animation viewing thing! :) I know it takes a lot of work to get something like this made, a lot of work, and a lot of planning and of course a lot of drawing and coloring. :) If a solo artist/animator was to get paid by the hour instead of a flat rate for an end production, such productions would be very expensive.

Hello, professional Matte Painter here! I've worked on life action and animated features but nothing traditional. Have you considered using projections for your backgrounds? Especially for something like the deer running shot, it would keep your style while saving a ton of time!! Just a thought!

Great vid, I'd just like to add some info on the Fraser Maclean book, avoid Amazon and Ebay it's over £200, but if you live in the UK go to Waterstones for £40 which is much more reasonable. I'd also like to ask why the chips near the end you've made me hungry now :)

i feel like blender 2.8 makes layout easier for the deer problem because with greace pencil you're drawing in a 3d space you don't care about layers it's just as simple as real life you pass in front and then you go behind
