Not working for me. Followed the steps and it's working on the Android App but not working at all in Surveillance Station. I have added the account and password, it authenticates correctly and after that tries to "activate". It ends up failing saying "Disconnected". Any ideas? When I try to click on it on Synology, fails saying it's unable to receive the video stream

Hey Daniel, one quick question - does the NVR and all the crucial options work without TP-Link Tapo subscription? The camera looks like a great one for Synology but I know a lot of functionalities is behind a subscription and I'd love to avoid that (that's why I've gotten Synology in the first place - to stop paying for cloud). Thank you!

I had the same question so based on my experience: I've got 2 outdoor and 1 indoor Tapo cameras. I've created a local account on each camera and set each with a static LAN IP from my router. I tested all cameras simultaneously with VLC network stream without fault. I'm yet to use NAS as an NVR, however it'll work fine I'm sure. The Tapo special features such as motion tracking and AI person detection are locked behind Tapo's subscription model so the NAS would only record a static video unless you also subscribe unfortunately.

Yup. Unfortunately it's a pretty locked down service offering. For my very modest and intermittent home IP cam needs (on holiday + want to verify once a day that the place hasn't burned down!) it's fine. If I were setting up anything permanent.... I'd look elsewhere.

You can connect its output to NAS storage. So the answer is yes.
