I have been using addiction in this way. I use the negative side to deny myself this powerful longing and as I become less and less addicted and a powerful spiritual energy is awakened. I have done the same thing with fasting as Sadghuru says. I do not advise becoming addicted but we are already addicted to so much anyway.
