How to Introduce the new Hens to the old Rooster

The old free-range rooster is lonely, his favorite hen was taken by an opossum. He is an Easter egger, I got him a couple of game hens from the stock on sand mountain in section alabama. The chicks from these girls wont take no scruff from a possum.

I have 10 young hens, not laying yet, their only 6 weeks old, if I put an adult roster in with them will it kill the young hens? if so how old the the hens need to be? feral cats are getting my peeps and I thought a grown roster would help protect the flock... any advice would be cool...

I have never had a rooster really hurt the young hens, but they will go after a young rooster. I would try them together and hide and watch. If he is gonna hurt anyone it will be as soon as they are put together. The only advice I have about feral cats is to get a guard dog 🐕 or 6. My dogs are very protective against everything except for hawks and owls 🦉

Brenda vlogs no, but it sure does sound like it I had to put her in a cage while I released the new chickens because if I didn't she would have chased them everywhere before she got used to the new ones. I didn't realize how bad it sounded until the video uploaded, but it is what it is she was not in any danger it was a good 3' x 4' kennel the one we carry goats home from the market in, and I released her after the video and watched her until she was familiar with the new family members
