Luna is an f1 mini goldendoodle. Her mother is a golden retriever and her father is a mini poodle. This is our DOG VLOG!

We introduced our 8 week puppy to our cat over a few days time. We slowly let them have interaction with one another. Our cat Loki is incredibly sweet and has been very patient with her as they get to know one another. I got tips on how to introduce them from the book Puppies for Dummies. I am by no means an expert on dogs or cats, but this slow way of introducing our pets worked for us. Every animal has a different temperament so always use caution.

I have three cats and when I get my puppy, I guarantee you, none of them will be acting as good as Loki.

This was decent imo. They started with scent swapping, next step at introduction with barrier, then introduction with harness. They made sure not to force Loki to get close to the puppy. Lots of positive reinforcement. I would have liked to keep puppy on a leash/harness for a lot longer than they did though to reinforce boundaries and not allow chasing. But overall it's pretty alright. I've seen much worse.

I have 3 cats (who mean the absolute world to me) and would love to get a dog, I'm not only worried about the initial meeting between the two species but I'm also worried my cats will think I don't love them anymore because of the new addition to the family. We’re bringing home our first pup in a few weeks. We have an adult male cat too. He had become best friends with our other kitty but we lost her in January. Hopefully the puppy will be his new bud. Thank you for this helpful video. I hope it goes as smoothly for our babes.

Hi Stardust! What kind of pup are you getting? I bet you’re excited! Puppies are alot of fun, once they are potty trained it’s way better! I highly recommend having a safe place for your cat to call his own, you know how cats are, they definitely need their space to chill! Definitely take the introduction slow, our cat Loki is a really sweet mellow cat and now that Luna is way bigger than him he gets trampled by her and runs away but there are other times where he wants to play so you will probably see both sides as well!

You guys have it made. I had no other choice but to adopt my dads poodle for my dad is in the hospital now and will never return to his home. My cat and dads dog Buddy really dislike ea. other its bad and been a couple weeks now - still really bad. Dog wont stop trying to attack her and barking up a storm - wont stop. I am feeling really bad about this - my cat is really up-set - they are both 10 years plus. I wont give up but its been really hard....my cat now will not come out of the bedroom.

I am getting Yorkshire Terrier x pomeranian on Tuesday and I have 2 male house cats who are 3 years old and have been spayed. I am worried about bringing the pup home because I was hospitalised by one of my cats last year after his brother escaped and was lost overnight and he went to attack him when he returned home and I got in the way, mis directed rage apparently. I ended up getting sepsis after a bad ankle bite. Since having them fixed they are the sweetest guys but the puppy is tiny weeny. I never want to see my cat behaving that aggressive ever again. Wish me luck

Hi Gem, I am so sorry to hear about the ankle bite, that sounds horrible! Thankfully they have calmed down after being fixed! You have two cats so hopefully they don’t team up on puppy too. My cat has a pretty laid back demeanor, I never heard him hiss until I brought home Luna. He hissed at her when he doesn’t want to play and she doesn’t get the hint lol. But now most of the time he runs away to somewhere up high. I recommend having a safe place for your cats to retreat to when they have had enough of the puppy. Hopefully all goes well, take it slow, and have someone to help you with the introduction Incase it doesn’t go as planned. Good luck!
