How would I pay myself in a structure with a single-member holding LLC (S-Corp) that owns my operating LLC, of which I’m the only owner and employee? How can this be done without piercing the corporate veil and losing asset protection, while still seeing the tax benefits of an S-Corp? Which LLC would handle payroll and how would dividends be distributed? Thanks!

Can we use a holding company to invest in a foreign country? Do we have the same tax benefits as if the investments were in Canada?
@Ocean68 ай бұрын
The taxes will work differently depending on the type of investment and country. There are less tax credits for foreign investments. In some situations, it is better to buy those investments in your personal name instead of your holding company.

Hi, For stocks you said that the entire capital gain can be taken out of the corporation using CDA. But isn't that true for only 50% of the total capital gain that goes through the CDA. For the remaining 50%, we will stay pay taxes if we take that money out of the corporation?
@Ocean68 ай бұрын
Hi! Thank you for your question. In the video, we mention when a Canadian-Controlled Private Corporation earns a capital gain, 50% of that gain (known as the non-taxable portion) flows through the CDA to be withdrawn from the corporation tax-free, not the entire capital gain. The other 50% is taxable.

The tax rate on investment income inside a corporation is very high. 50.17% in Canada. This typically negates the deferral benefit.
@Ocean68 ай бұрын
Although the tax rate is around 50%, you only pay tax on half of the gains when you invest in capital gains vehicles.

@@Ocean6update. You pay 50.7% tax on 66.7 % of capital gain. Isn't it better to switch strategy to dividend income within holdco instead of capital gains ?

You was doing good until you got to explaining life insurance. How in the world is life insurance a good investment if you are dead. Life insurance is for generational wealth not investing. You fail to explain all the hidden nuances in the premium payment that is made up into three parts but I'm not going to get into with this complicated subject
@Ocean68 ай бұрын
We agree, life insurance is a complicated topic! Many life insurance policies offer investment components that allow the funds inside the policy to grow tax-exempt. It can great a low risk, tax efficient investment vehicle inside your corporation, while providing other benefits such as legacy planning and generation wealth. We have a blog on how you can use life insurance as a wealth-building tool here: ocean6.ca/cash-value-life-insurance/
