The first time you apply, you get 6 month visa and you can choose to stay all through the 6months but must not be overstayed.

Does the number of month the visitor intends to stay influence the amount of POF to use. Assuming I am looking at sponsoring my mum for four months. I have about #8m and also my uk payslip and bank statement

Yes it does. But if you are the main sponsor you could reduce the 8m.. what matters is that you need your show proof she’ll be well taken care of and having a place to stay

You don’t also have to declare the number of months she’ll be staying for. If it’s her first time she’ll be given 6month either ways. So it’s better if you say she’ll be using 4 weeks, 6weekd rather than using months. I hope you understand?

How about the return ticket they might likely want to ask her at the point of entry? Am I to book a return ticket for the next 4 weeks or for the estimated period of time I am looking at?
