This week I have been sewing paper with a sewing machine for my art junk journal. I'm doing poetry and pockets too! It's easy, fun and relaxing to have some precious creative time to play in my handmade journal. I hope you enjoy watching and maybe even do some journaling alongside me! Thanks as always for keeping me company! Biggest Loves, Wendy. Xxx

I got sent an amazing quote this week which I thought might be appreciated on here.."In the depths of winter, I finally learned that there was, in me, an invincible summer" by Albert Camus. It really resonated with me because I have, like alot of us , struggled with anxiety and depression but I have also survived these tough times!! This made me realise how strong I am that I keep on going, keep getting up again. This quote made me realise I too have an invincible summer in me!! Thanks for the vlogs Wendy, loving the journaling.😀🌞🌻🦋

Thank you for sharing that quote - I love it! I am soooo over winter 😩 There have been a couple of nice days recently but it's going back to 30 degrees. I'm trying to be stylish with it by wearing bright clothes, but yeah... I'm ready for spring. I keep staring at my Madden Girl/Birkenstock knock off sandals. Lol. But I will remember that quote to help me press on!

HELLO Wendy…hailing from New Jersey in the States…was wondering if you offer a copy of your Fairy poem for sale? I would very much like to hang it amongst my ’Fairy Garden” I have in my little art studio. It’s filled with giant flowers and fairy 🧚‍♀️ statues and such. Your poem would make a lovely addition to my get away space. I find such joy in here. I recently purchased some postcards from you…waiting for the post to deliver them. You and James sure got on that order in record time! I think by the next day it was posted!! Thank you very much for that. Have a blessed and peaceful cocoon day…..sending love. 💕🧚‍♀️

“She sat at the back and they said she was shy she led from the front and they hated her pride They asked her advice and then questioned her guidance they branded her loud then were shocked by her silence When she shared no ambition they said it was sad so she told them her dreams and they said she was mad They told her they’d listen then covered their ears and gave her a hug whilst they laughed at her fears And she’d listen to all of it thinking she should be the girl they told her to be best as she could But one day she asked what was best for herself instead of trying to please everyone else So she walked to the forest and stood with the trees she heard the wind whisper and dance with the leaves And she spoke to the willow the elm and the pine and she told them what she’d been told time after time She told them she’d never felt nearly enough she was either too little or far, far too much Too loud or too quiet too fierce or too weak too wise or too foolish too bold or too meek Then she found a small clearing surround by firs and she stopped and she heard what the trees said to her And she sat there for hours not wanting to leave for the forest said nothing…. it just let her breathe.” Becky Hemsley

I really enjoyed this Podcast today. Thank you so much. I actually do a lot of sewing when working with my journals. I make them often from scratch. The 2 Norwegian designers Arne&Carlos have a wonderful book out called Idea Book, where they go through the complete process of making an idea book from old paper. They also have about 6 videos all about journaling and making scrap/idea books as well on their wonderful channel. The knitting themes, garden tipps and crochet tutorials are so epic. Sometimes those 2 unique guys are even cooking. Do you know them? I think you will enjoy them immensely. Huggs and blessings from Rose-Cottage, Schurwald Forest, Germany.

My dear Wendy, l love your vlogs so much, your dedication to be just you and tell it like it is on where you are is right up my street and I so relate to so much of what you share. I am taking care of my two youngest grandkids this weekend so my son and daughter-in-law can have a weekend away to celebrate 16 yrs married. What better time to watch you as the sleep and I’m laying in bed enjoying your talking and sewing , etc. I love your flower power period, I love what you put together to add to the journal. I brought papers, glue sticks and lots of other bits to do artsy stuff with the grand kids tomorrow. Hearts and stuff and two inexpensive art canvases for them to work on🌞 should be a fun time Love the pockets you’ve made, and inspirational. Your faces are always so whimsical. Sending you love and soft hugs my dear . 🤗😘🥰😃🙏 and best regards to your knight in shining armor too. 🥰

Oh my goodness! You really DID sew paper!😮📄 When you shared photos on Patreon I actually thought it was a really cute detail you penned onto the paper to make it look sewn! But girl, you really went and did it😂That’s even better! And thank you again for sharing about the January Blues last week, I really needed to hear more of us are going through it. It helps to know we’re not alone and also that I can take it easier on myself recognizing the pattern of my energy levels with the changes of seasons. I usually start to get pushy and annoyed with myself when I really just need more rest in the winter. And I’m practicing that a lot more. 2022 is really gonna be about true #selflove & #selfcare ❤️❤️❤️

I've noticed lots of youtube art journalers make their own journals to sell. The one I'm using is okay but tad small it was practise coptic binding piece and made a larger one using long stitching with link stitching. If you want to try book binding I can recommend videos by Sea lemon they are short but concise. I did research on creative journals there are many forms: junk journals, Smash and glue books they mostly have same principle free style collage in any style. I'm doing a mixture of collage and mixed media so hybrid of Art and Junk journal. Smash books were by K and Company I have one still unused. Your videos on featuring fairies reminds me of flower fairies I used to have as kid just nowadays I'm into gothic romance with skulls. When I was doing Foundation Art and design, the tutor introduced me to art journals by Dan Eldon, he was journalist in Africa but killed by angry mobs he was only in his 30s. He produced wonderful colourful decorative pages using his photos became similar towards end of his life. Due to cold temperatures really hard to do anything this month but doing art journaling keeps me grounded. I love to see more on how handmade journals develop.

I really love the two flower paintings and wondered if you have ever thought about designing fabrics. Nowadays quilters are making quilts out of very bright colors and trying all sorts of experiments with modern designs. Water color inspired designs are popular in fabrics and large flowers are quite popular. I could just see your designs in fabric gracing someone's quilt.

Another lovely video Wendy; thank you for sharing. For some reason I'm not brave enough to take paper to my sewing machine! It looks so lovely on the decorative elements for your journal, so maybe I should just give it a go. It just doesn't seem right though! Haha!

Love the things you made, then added to your journal. And your enhancement of your girl painting was wonderful. Made a big difference to the little painting. I love watching you do art and the sweet encouragement words or expressions you say are so welcome. Love your work so much. XOXOJane, a fellow lefty
