Just nailed this one thanks to you Taylor! Some of you might get the general idea and try to do it their own way. While for some that might work... I always come back for her explanations to fill the missing gaps that help me get it. I recommend listening carefully to every step because she's very methodical.

With balls, going from 2 chops to 3 is my biggest challenge. The 2nd chop is the first time you have to catch the ball while still bringing your hand up high to get in the next (3rd) chop.

Great tutorial!! Never really did chops with balls, I never really liked it. Can do it, just don't find it very satisfying. With clubs never really did chops with single spins. Always loved doing double spins, leaving more time for really emphasising the chops, and using my whole body moving to really make it look like I was trying to chop something!! Add in a karate yell with each chop, and audiences love it, especially little kids when you are imitating a teenage mutant ninja turtle!! Outside chops with clubs, going to have to try that one tomorrow!! That looked totally cool!! 😊😊

Very nice tutorial. What I learned recently is that chops look much nicer with a little club swing instead of moving the whole wrist. Lauri Koskinen has a good tutorial on this swing-movement

It’s definitely another style to learn! I don’t personally find it better looking (I prefer the whole wrist movement that puts your body into it), but I do think it’s beneficial to learn it both ways.

This is great Taylor. It really helped me finally learn chops, thank you! In what I hope is a helpful comment, tho, I found it distracting to toggle around the clubs parts while learning balls and vice versa. Maybe it would be even better if you first focused on one all the way thru then the other 😃

Thanks for the feedback! I agree with your assessment. This was the first and only tutorial I did teaching the club and ball version together and I regretted it immediately. I haven’t done that since and I don’t think I ever will! I may someday make a ball chops tutorial just to help make it clearer ☺️
