How to jump start a Mercedes E class W211 if you cant open the boot / trunk

as it says in the title, these points are unmarked in the engine bay.

Today i wandered out to my Merc to start it as ive been recovering from major surgery the past two months. No power and i couldn't open the boot to get to the main battery. Stumped .All I say is thank you for making this video.

My daughter's 2006 E350 has a key blade NOT paired to the boot/trunk (USA) - I forgot for a minute with battery disconnected and LOCK OUT! The few minutes you spent making this saved me a lot of grief. FYI in the US, everything is reversed. Fuse Panel on left side, and that positive cable comes off the BACK of the Fuse Panel. I couldn't even confirm it had a red cable, but it was logically it, so I put a charger to it, and hit the trunk open on remote! BINGO. Thanks for putting this put there, it's really not obvious or easy to find on this model. Cheers!

I have a w211 eClass wagon. There isn't a key hole to open the trunk - so if you find yourself locked out of your trunk and your battery is dead just go into the car, climb over the back seat - there will be a latch located on the inside of the trunk door. Pull the release and the trunk door will open👍. Just be mindful that you will need to prop the trunk open because it will slowly close and lock on you since no juice (electricity) is holding it up. Keep it propped open untill you've changed or charged your large battery located in trunk under panel on right side of spare tire.👍

There's actually a manual trunk pop for the key too. So you can get in the trunk with a dead battery

The boot can be opened with the metal key.

@@geemanbmw It does work, it's mechanical. Maybe your lock is seized or corroded. I can get in trunk even when battery terminal is disconnected. But it's strange that w211 sedan has no visual jumpstarting terminals under the hood. The stationwagon S211 has those things just like S210 had.

It does have a jump start positing terminal it's on the drivers side under the fuse box and the negative is anywhere on the body of the car. But you already knew that..🥱

hello i just purchased an e200 kompressor pre facelift like the one in the video. my dash shows signs of battery go to ths workshop and now when i turn my key on it cranks but not start , i am new to this car so the battery on the front is for what actually if the one in the boot is the main one? And which one is needed for the car startup thanks for your answer

The one in the boot is the main battery. The one in the front is the auxiliary battery. The one in the boot is the one that starts the engine. The one in the front does things like the radio etc. I'd change both

So, can you actually connect onto there to jump start the car without frying the fusebox? Or is this just to get power to the locks to open the boot to access the battery? I've had to jump start mine before, and as you say, with the boot locked it's a real pain. If this works to jump start the car, this is fantastic. thank you.

I’m going to try this but I’m scared. Since my radio isn’t working also do you think it may be my auxiliary battery? The radio stopped working about 1 1/2 months ago. Is there a safe way to charge my auxiliary battery?

Best way is if the aux battery has died is to change it.its very simple. This is basically a way to jump.start the car if you can't open the boot/trunk

So it the auxiliary battery MUST be replaced if the battery is dead. I think the auxiliary battery is dead because the radio no longer works. And I can’t get the jumper cable positive on the fuse box because the clamp won’t stay clamped. Again, if my auxiliary battery is dead I have to replace it? I just had it replaced last May.

@@allaboutcross4202 the radio may no longer work if the fuse has gone. The auxiliary batteries are notorious for dying in these cars because they seem to hide any problems the main battery has. This sounds like a bigger problem than a jump start.

@@druztalks3651 so I was able to get the trunk open with the vanity key.. it just took a few jiggles. Put a portable battery jumper on the main battery in the trunk. Turned the key and the radio and lights came on but the car wouldn’t start it just clicked. As soon as the battery jumper was disconnected everything went back off. I’m sure now that the radio wasn’t working because the battery wasn’t getting enough juice. What do you think? Thank you for all of your replies.

If you connect to the jump points you should be able to use the switch on the front driver side to remote open

@@druztalks3651 I tried connecting to those jump points but I think the auxiliary battery is probably dead too. The car has been parked since 2018. Its a 2010 E200. I didn’t however connect to those points for longer than 5 mins, could that maybe be the issue too? Should I keep it there a little longer?

I had to do this a couple times while working on my e320 finally got the trunk open new batteries and all fuses checked and replaced and now my car will only run with the cable on and connected like you say in this video. Anyone know what could've happened if I may have fried so.ething or shorted something out by doing this

I checked to see if the red cable was getting power with a voltage tester and it reads nothing. Both front fuse boxes aren't getting power
