How to Kayak the Chestatee River - Chestatee Adventures. This is a great kayaking and fishing day trip that is convenient to Dawsonville and Dahlonega. This stretch of the Chestatee River is perfect for beginner paddlers looking for a day of adventure and bass fishing. The type of fish one will encounter on this event is spotted bass and shoal bass, as well as sunfish. There have also been Lanier stocked striper caught in this stretch of the river. But they are few and far between. This is about a 4 or 5 hour float depending on how long you stop on gravel bars and relax or fish. The launch locations are close together and easy to find. Chestatee River Adventures offers kayak rentals and a shuttle.
