Noel is literally an angel from God, I’m not saying sue doesn’t do much - far from it with so many kids- but Noel is out of this world, he goes to work early, comes back to help with the school run, then back to work, works all day, then comes home does handy man stuff & helps around the house, he then cooks dinner etc & helps sue gets the kids into bed with stories and stuff! He literally is AMAZING and that’s gotta be one of the reasons why they keep having Babies lol if sue had my ex as a husband she would of stopped at 1 or 2 lol bc he’s a lazy ass lol 😂💯

Sue cooks dinner for the children quite often during the week and she has done 99% of everything in the house from laundry to keeping everything as clean as possible while keeping everything going each day 365 days a year with very little help from the children. The girls do help out while most of the boys hardly do anything. So let’s not belittle how much Sue does each day around the house and for her children. She is the one who purchases all of the gifts for the family and plans each birthday, holiday and other celebrations throughout the year and she makes the weekly grocery shopping order online or goes to the store and shops for the groceries. Things are more staged and setup when they film for the channel 5 shows. The regular vlog videos are a more accurate representation of how they live and do things. I don’t like how this episode was filmed because it is so different from how they normally are day to day.

Exactly. Even if it’s everyone strips their bed and put new bedding on, everyone folds their own clothes, everyone scrapes their plates and put them in the dishwasher, that would make a big difference to mum and dad. Then everyone have their daily or weekly chore, whether it’s put the laundry on, clean the pots and pans, hoover a room etc. Of course the little ones may need help but that can be mum and dads chore, help the little ones, plus other jobs they don’t trust the kids with (I love the sound of Noel’s meals)

I started doing chores around 6/7 years old, my mum had a chores board aswell for me and my 2 older brothers and at first it was just simple jobs and now I'm nearly 20 doing more complicated things around the house, with some jobs left to learn still. When there's more than one person living in the house it's fair and it'll teach you life skills

Chores should be taught at a much younger age like 3 yrs - tidying up, basic cleaning, grooming, rooms etc then harder chores are gradually introduced so that children understand the basics of living.

Diana Best-Hutchinson, you are 100% correct. We all had chores from a very young age as did my son. He and his wife have four children, so far, and only the baby doesn't have chores. Even the four year old can load the dishwasher. I love the Radfords very much but have always been aware that Sue is killing herself with all the housework. Oh. And the boys all need to learn every housekeeping chore also. They are all part of the family and as a family member, you are responsible to help in the upkeep.

Nah, punishment for expressing he felt it was daunting and overwhelming to go from having no chores to have to tidy up after himself and his 17 siblings and parents. It’s a big ask of a middle school child. I like that they didn’t tell him off, but reminded him of having to help out and encouraged him when he got started and celebrated him when he eventually had done it. One thing that could have made it easier is to have spoken to him what he felt in the moment and venture into why he didn’t want to do it. By doing so it would most likely have ended up being less daunting. Even as an adult, I would find it a bit tough to tidy up after so many people on the daily/weekly. It’s important to remember that children also need time to process things and can’t be expected to simply obey. Why feel the need to punish a child for being a child, when you as an adult can take the time to help them get through their emotions?! Your suggestion is just to give you as an adult a pleasure release, by punishing the child instead of helping them to learn something new. I say it in this way because I have studied child psycholgy at uni., while you come to the situation by being emotional and going off on ancient child rearing ideas that are based in punishment.

Oh Sue way beyond time. There were 5 of us, 4 boys and me the only girl. Dad worked away. If we didn't help, it would have way too much for Mum. Our chores were peeling potatoes (every day for dinner), setting table, clearing table, wash up, dry up, putting out empty milk bottles, bring in full bottles, take out rubbish, round up empty coat hangers. In addition, we kept our own rooms clean and tidy, made our own beds and so on. My brothers all married and are equal partners in their marriages.

They both work. And if you have so many children all adults in the family must take responsibility. The idea that working some hours a day outside of the home would grant you to not lift a finger in the home is such a rubbish mindset! You’re literally applauding a grown man for taking responsibility in the home he lives in.

My parents were more strict that Sue and Noel on chores. If I got up from the dinner table first, my mum would call out 'can you load the dishwasher?' as if I wasn't well trained to do it anyway 😂. Or my dad would be like 'can you do that bit of wiping up/can clothes please go into the laundry basket and not on your floor/the socks need pairing...' and there was no arguing, I had to do it. Plus I had to change my bed and feed the dog as the bare minimum (though feeding the dog was a two minute job). If not, no pocket money. If I wanted extra pocket money, it was cleaning the dog poop from the garden/washing the car/mow the lawn etc.

They argued constantly about laundry. I got them their own laundry bags and take care of all their own washing, drying, folding, putting away. If they can play computer games they can play the washing machine game.

Someone needs to show "Yes they are all ours" how to keep a house clean. They have a smaller family than all of you and their house is filthy. The Father works 2 jobs, gets the kids up, feeds them breakfast, takes them to school and then goes to work. The Mother (Melinda) stays at home and at the end of the day, her house looks exactly like it did from the morning. She loves to shop, but doesn't do much cleaning at all. Even if you are poor (which they are not) you don't have to be dirty. Sue and Noel, I think having chores for the kids is great. It teaches them responsibility and cleanliness.

By not getting each child to pull their weight they are not being taught how to cope for later. By 14 mine were cooking for themselves, doing their own washing and keeping their own areas clean as well as being expected to do certain jobs in the house. I’d sometimes get surprised with a clean house when I walked in the door and I’d sometimes come home and find the chores not done. When they turned 16 we were on full house share status. They were in 6th form and also working part time. We were working full time. They needed to learn because they would soon be in university and have their own places. We also had various other teenagers come through our doors and leave after a certain period of time, sometimes weeks, the longest several years and at the end our youngest daughters boyfriend lives with us. We needed a tight ship and so did the Radford’s. I’ve watched the show where one of the girls left home for a night or two to see if she could live on her own and had no food then couldn’t cook. Mine were taught to cook slowly from young. Not by forced lessons but by sitting in the kitchen with me, watching, asking questions then deciding to make fun and easy things on their own like no cook cheesecake. You really don’t do your kids any favours by not teaching them how to be independent. My last two (twins) left home last September aged 19. They are both living with their partners (one is engaged). They are both fine and able to work, study, cook, clean, budget and stand away from the supermarket shelf to assess the bargains and look at the cost per 100g etc.

Something called jurisdictions would be very helpful for them! Tiffany from Not Enough Nelsons invented it. They have 16 children and have used it for years. They have a board with every kids name on it and then they have clips that hold them. Every kid is responsible for one room in their house(main living areas). If one kid leaves a mess in another’s room, they get tickets. If they got three of those tickets, then they go to “mom jail”. They have to do a deep cleaning or organizing task to get out of “mom jail”. I thought it was genius!

I work with adults with special needs. When they have chores they need to do that they don’t want to do, we tell them if you do your chores, then we can play video games or go out into the community. If they do the chores they have earned their choice of activity. There is a difference between being able to do something and just not wanting to versus being mentally or physically disabled and truly having a difficulty completing or participating in the task. We deal with both issues, one is considered more of a behavioral issue and needs a different approach. I love your family. Sue is an amazing mom and Noel as a dad just melts my heart. Miss my dad and Noel is such a treasure when it comes to dads. If the older boys are unable to do their chores because of work, perhaps they need to pay a cleaning fee to their mum. She could take herself out for a spa day with the money.

Any kid teenage and older should have been doing their own laundry. All of them above toddler age should have had consistent chores. A little late to start now., even with a “contest”. Keeping a large household functional is not a game. Sue and Noel should not have to negotiate, or promise rewards.

I am surprised that they didn’t start giving the children chores at a much younger age. My parents started giving us chores that were age appropriate starting around the age of 3. They can make their bed, pick up toys, put dirty clothes in the hamper, help set the table etc . As they get older they get more chores. My parents put them on a calendar in our kitchen and we to do them without arguments . We didn’t get paid for doing them because they are things that need to be done as a member of our family and each family member has to do their part to keep things going. We earned money by babysitting, cutting the neighbors grass, delivering newspapers, or a job at a business once we were 16 years old. I made really good money babysitting. Our parents paid for the things we needed for school, church, clothing, various activities and doing things with family or friends. Put the chores list on something that they can’t erase. The Knorp family has an amazing rotating chores chart for their 11 children. Their channel name is KnorpandSouth.

Hi Sue, I come from a family of 7 children and we all had chores to do! If undone well mom really did us a good grounding! We had to do it or not get any fun time! The girls did the laundry and cooking whereas the boys did all the outside things such as lawn and that sor of things! It kept our home fairly clean! I love using with the youngest ones the stickers that's what I used for mine! You are. A super mom! Keep it up!

When we were children.. 4 of us, my mum would not let is do anything indoors!.. she did everything cooked from scratch, there were times when we didn't even have a washing machine!!. We played out all day... in a very free childhood, I can't ever remember being indoors as a kid!?.. There was always nice food on the table and fresh clean clothes, mum was up every day at 5am.. starting her day.. even now, she is up at that time!!..

@@missykuss9975 my mum wouldn't even let you in the kitchen, while she cooked!.. she didn't even let my dad make a cup of tea!... my grandmother was the same.. they both felt they had the family, so should look after everyone.. my mum never liked kids looking after kids.. you couldn't change them if you tried.. that is their way..

@@maggie2759 I get that. But my question was do you think it would have hurt you if she had asked you to help? Or might you have learned valuable life skills? My mother grew up very privileged, (I did not) and didn’t know one thing about running a household. They had had cooks, maids & drivers. So, when she married a low ranking Marine (also from a privileged background) she knew nothing! Felt so overwhelmed. This, she was determined her three ddd as daughters would know more, she taught us and I was always grateful. I then taught my 3 sons. It just seems a better way to raise children.

@@missykuss9975 I do think my mum's way of running a house is old school, but that was their way.. my grandmother lived until 100 years, so in some ways it kept her very young and fit!.. (she even brought my cousin up as a 1 year old, when she was 65 years old!... his own mum died.). as for my siblings, we are all running our own homes, successfully now.. and we are all good. I think, we were fortunate we had so much freedom as children and all were very independent... We all did get saturday jobs, outside of the home around 14 years old, so we were not lazy kids!..
@missykuss9975

@@maggie2759 I’m not attacking the way you were raised, truly. I didn’t make my sons work all the time either. I realized the importance of play and children being carefree. I just don’t think it hurts children to know that they are part of a family where everyone participates and works for a common good. And I think it is a parent’s responsibility to teach all the life skills a child will need to be a highly functioning adult, and for young children, play is a very important part of that. But even my very little boys felt a great sense of joy and pride when they helped me and their father with a job, and saw the end results. They felt accomplished and learned valuable skills. That’s all. 😉

I wish KZbin would have one tv show that’s actually real and not script
@meiraloraduncan8953
@meiraloraduncan8953 2 жыл бұрын
All TV shows are scripted. Their regular vlog videos aren’t scripted. This is from the documentary that they film for channel 5 so yes this is more scripted and not their real life day to day. Many channels on KZbin aren’t shows . The ones I normally watch are clips from their normal life that they started to let family see how they are doing and especially their grandparents. Others started out that way but they got sucked into the KZbin trap and lost their reason for their channel.

we need to stop calling it “chores”. it’s just living. if you make mess you clean it, you want to eat food? you help make it and then clean the plates. you use the bins u take them out. it’s just being a human, not doing chores or jobs. don’t know how they manage with so many i cry having to wash my own pots 🤣
