I had to buy a rotala for my Guppy, very big plant with a lot of roots. In my 70L aquarium i had no substrate, just sand and gravel. The roots now are dead, the plant is still anchored in the gravel, and new roots are born that are floating in the water. What i have to do? I'm cutting them in the rotten part and placing the new roots under some rocks. Will them grow well?
@vladimirstojanovic3603
@vladimirstojanovic3603 4 жыл бұрын
For rotalas and other stem plants, the roots are not so important. You can only plant a stem and the plant will develop roots and will grow. Of course if you have the right conditions in the tank.

Hi. Yes, but it must be covered for at least the first 3 weeks. Plants must make the transition to emersed form, and this requires humidity. Afterwards, the cover can be gradually removed. But anyway, it all depends on the type of plant.

how do you prevent mold? i tried this and my plants got covered in mold.

I occasionally ventilate the plants. If you have a mold problem, try leaving half a centimeter uncovered on one side of the container.

Won't plants melt once you shift them to an aquarium?
@vladimirstojanovic3603
@vladimirstojanovic3603 4 жыл бұрын
Some types of plants will melt, such as cryptocoryne. Some will just transform and continue to grow underwater.

I dont know why my Monte Carlo grow not well. Some of them melting and some growing. My tank is now about 8 days old.
@something.for.everyone
@something.for.everyone 4 жыл бұрын
What are you growing them in? Soil, substrate, sand? Do u have fish in? If your tank is only 8 days old there wouldn't be enough nutrients in the water ie nitrates for the plants to feed on, best to add plants after your tank is cycled, about 4-6 weeks or start off with cycled sponge and media in your filter if you want to add plants straight away..
