I had to buy a rotala for my Guppy, very big plant with a lot of roots. In my 70L aquarium i had no substrate, just sand and gravel. The roots now are dead, the plant is still anchored in the gravel, and new roots are born that are floating in the water. What i have to do? I'm cutting them in the rotten part and placing the new roots under some rocks. Will them grow well?

For rotalas and other stem plants, the roots are not so important. You can only plant a stem and the plant will develop roots and will grow. Of course if you have the right conditions in the tank.
