I've had chickens for 7 years and NEVER heard of that. I bought little aprons to cover them and it works but that is amazing. My husband is a mechanic so I'm going to snoop thru his shop for oil. Thank you so very very much. nEVER TO OLD TO LEARN.

If he has grease for a grease gun I suspect that would work too but I have never tried it. You are 100% correct I hope to learn something everyday. Thanks for watching.

Hey everybody, I wanted to make this video to help anybody that's had a problem with pecking. So far every time I've tried it the pecking stops and the bird recovered. Thanks for watching.

I have a little bantam frizzle hen that was picked & pecked on terribly. I have been keeping her in a box in the house because she was also bleeding on her wings & back. It made me sick to think of what she must have went through. The only thing that I could think to do was to put antibiotic ointment where she was hurt. She hardly has any feathers left on the areas that was attacked. It looked so much better in just one day & she even acted fine the next day, like she wasn’t hurting at all. I’m afraid to put her back out there, so I’m not sure what I will do once she’s healed & feathers grow back? I was wondering if there’s anything to put on them to help their feathers grow back?

I think given enough time they will grow back by themselves. Whenever I had one that got injured they always grew back on their own. Having had this problem myself I know what it's like. Hopefully if you take her back with the others they won't be as aggressive towards her.

Liquid nails or bath tub caulking works great too. Also, if you're in a pinch pvc pipe glue works as well.

I agree, Blu-Kote works well for many skin abrasions and helps prevent pecking. Have used Blu-Kote on many different animals over the years.

I had quails for a year and I had several heart aches over this behavior. I had a white male that I hoped would be a long term (4-5years) friend and companion to me. When he went to freezer camp, they all went.

Anti-seize is grease and nickel filings. I’m not sure I’d want to risk poisoning a chicken or several with nickel. Has anyone tried something more inert? Like Vaseline or something?
@jonbussey5353
@jonbussey5353 Жыл бұрын
I understand your concern but I've never had any problems with chickens getting sick. You have a good idea with the Vaseline it has the same consistency as never sieze. I hope not but if I get another injured chicken I'll try it. Thanks for the advice and thanks for watching.

I tried the No Peck. It resembles a grease on the runny side. It didn’t do any good. They didn’t like it but it’s a reddish brown color and made him look like he was scalped on his rear end. The others were interested more with it on although they didn’t like it plus HE started pecking himself to get it off. It made him Ill, I think. He was unstable a few times after he got a mouth full.

I have a chicken that is pecking herself so bad that she has an open wound. You can see the flesh. Ive sprayed the wound spray and it makes her peck more. Can i put this on her? Ive even tried to wrap her I’m at a loss.

Yes, you can. It has worked every time I've tried it. I don't think I've ever had a chicken peck herself, though. If you don't have never sieze, people have suggested using Vaseline in the comments. I really hope your chicken gets better. Thanks for subscribing.

Hello I don’t know if you will see this but I wouldn’t be able to find advice any where else, I have 2 over protective mother chickens and they bite other chicks so much that I can actually see the inside of the chest and see their heart beet, i wouldn’t imagine this being a common problem but I just wondered if you have any advice for saving the chicks

Krystin, if I understand you correctly, it sounds like you might have some chickens that are kind of mean. I wear blue jeans, but if they're pecking you that bad, they make chaps for people using chainsaws. Thanks for subscribing, and I hope things get better.

My polish rooster used to have a beautiful tail. I have two girls that have pecked him ugly on his rear. I put peck stop there. It’s a purple color. Cost $12 and all it did was make it look horrific. They still pecked him. Now I can’t tell if he’s bloody or if it’s the medicine. I’m thinking of making him a personalized saddle for his tail. I believe I have what your showing here. Don’t know if it’s exactly the same brand but purpose-yes. How much did you use and what if I get back there and his skin is broken? Separating him is necesssry st this point but he stresses from it. Thank you

@jonbussey5353 Жыл бұрын
First off, sorry about your rooster. I've had polish chickens, and the top hat makes them one cool bird to watch. It doesn't matter what brand it is, and I have put it on their skin, and it didn't hurt them. That being said, I have had some viewers think you shouldn't use it. One viewer suggested petroleum jelly. If you're worried about health issues over never sieze, you might try that. I applied it all over the wounded area, but not real thick. It has always worked for me. If you use the petroleum jelly, could you please let me know how it works. Thanks for watching.

@@jonbussey5353 At first I was not understanding the idea of using your never seez...Then I searche Blu-kote which is only for pet animals not for 'food production' animals. Understood that those products are used to change the look of the wound so chickens won't be attracted to it and pecking on it, Isn't it? If so, I would be very worry to put a car product on my hen. (have one with a very big wound on her head). Anyway I've separated the hen from the rest of the flock and won't put her back for a while. ******But just thinking of it now, Petroleum jelly with blue food colorant would'nt it works for hiding the wound? Could even add some antiseptic to the mixture also... If you try, I would also like to be noticed to learn about how it worked. Thanks for the video.
