I have a ranger just like yours and fixing to get an extreme bait tank. I was wondering if you'd stay with 12 gal to save room or would you step up to the 20 gal? Great video i really enjoy watching them.
@RockyDrakeOutdoors Жыл бұрын
I’m very pleased with my 12 gallon tank.It fits perfect in the floor of the my boat so I don’t have to sit it on the deck, where it would be in my way. A 20 gallon is going to weigh a lot more also. You could put a little more bait in a 20 but haven’t had any issues with my 12 gallon it’ll hold enough bait for me. Thanks for watching my videos and thanks for your comment 🎣🎣

When it’s hot out do you put ice in your bait tank?
@RockyDrakeOutdoorsАй бұрын
I haven’t yet I do think it would help keep the bait more lively. Just don’t cool the water in the tank to much I appreciate your comment 🎣🎣

Emptying your catch in a tote has the additional benefit of allowing the fish to void themselves preventing that waste from getting in the bait tank. Gizzard shad in particular excrete a huge amount of waste when they are first dropped in a tote. I used to carry a sump pump and 75' of drinking water hose so that in the summer I could start with cold water from the lake. A pyramid weight and some screening on the end would get the hose to where the water was about 60 degrees when the surface temp was 90. I also froze several gallon ziplock bags that I kept in a large cooler to use to keep the bait tank water cool without adding chlorinated water from melting ice. Plus it saves a lot of money buying ice.

Thanks David I appreciate all the info in your comment. Those gizzard shad are messy to deal with. Thanks for your comment and thank you for watching 🎣🎣

is the black wall tank necessary vs white wall ones they offer
@RockyDrakeOutdoors Жыл бұрын
The black walls are to keep your bait more calm. If you don’t want to spend the extra money on the black the white will work fine. 🎣🎣

Did you say that you put salt in the bait tank?
@RockyDrakeOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Yes sir Just a small amount. It puts enzymes in the water and helps with the slime coat on the bait. I appreciate you watching!🎣
