I know people think that putting shoes with an icy sole in an air-tight zip lock will prevent oxidation and preserve them, but it won't. By placing the shoes in an air-tight bag you deprive the sole of oxygen, which in the long run will cause the sole to dry up and crack. It would be better for the shoes if you just left them out of plastic zip locks.
