We had a tremendous drought last year one of the worst I seen (Missouri). I lost several fruit trees despite my best efforts. When we were at our breaking point we got a 9 inch rain, thankfully.

Droughts and flooding are expected to become even more common. The swale or raingarden provide the opportunity to bank or store water in the subsoil where sinker roots of fruit trees can access, even in a 3-year drought. It depends some on the makeup of the subsoil. The more clay, the better.

Wow, that sounds like a tough season! Droughts are brutal on fruit trees, and a sudden 9-inch rain must’ve felt like a mixed blessing. I hope your orchard bounces back stronger this year!

Should I be worried about microplastics getting released into the environment with laundry grey water?
