That heater fan seems great! Winter always makes me nervous even when I know I've gotten many through before. Reacclimating them in the spring is a bit of a chore too. I wish I had an ideal situation for winter but I just bring mine inside without significant light or dark and trickle water every month or so to help the roots in my arid climate. Sending sunshine and great vibes from New Mexico

Excellent video!!! I'm planning on over-wintering my cacti in a greenhouse this year and I was worried about which ones would tolerate it. Thank you for your hard work and for sharing your experiences growing beautiful cactus!

This is an excellent video, Lyn ! I am pretty new, and I have tried to gather all this information by asking questions and reading posts on line. I have found that there are too many ideas held by people that are only applicable to their particular situation, but do not consider all of the different situations people/growers find themselves in. You have been careful in this offering to at least touch on the majority of situations and applications. Thank you for your thoughts, guidelines and time.

This is the video I need. I have an enclosed balcony. Very bright. But cold. Not sure if it stays above 5. I’d better get a thermometer

What about watering under grow lights?
@brocktoon8Күн бұрын
Love that you explained about the daylight changes. Does that also apply to succulents (the not watering)? I've got some blue chalk sticks Everest in my unheated bedroom, and an aloe parvula in my unheated kitchen. Lol! It sounds like I live like a monk, but the fact is the heat from the rest of the house is enough without heating those two rooms. Shall I not water them all winter then?

This Canadian doesn’t understand how you cannot heat particular rooms.

@@M_SC 😂 This flat has underfloor heating which is turned on room by room. There's no door on the kitchen, so the heat from the main body of the house just passively flows in there. My bedroom of course does have a door, but due to my having two dogs who need free range, that door is always open as well. Thus, the two rooms, even though totally unheated, feel comfortable from the ambient heat that flows in there from the main thoroughfare of the house. Frankly, my bedroom does get pretty damn cold at night, but I like it that way, lol! I sleep better in the cold for some reason. I hope that clarifies. ^^

Can I ask how well your poly tunnel stands up to wind and snow. I live in Minnesota and during winter we can get 20mph winds and sometimes over 12" of snow. I've been thinking of getting a poly tunnel but don't want it to blow away, rip or collapse especially overnight. We can also have temps of -20f or below plus windchill, I'm wondering if the poly wrap would stiffen and sprit or tear because of the cold temps and wind/windchill.

Let's say I have a rattail cactus granfted on an opuntia, should I treat it as an opuntia or a rattail cactus?
