Great video Lyn!! Seems we all have a story of how we got here😊 I think I was lnjected with cactus fever!! When I was about 3 we were visiting relatives in Florida and I fell beck into a cactus bed! I remember them pulling spines out of my back!! Got my first little cacti when I was about 5, First Euphorbia, which at that time I had no idea of the difference, at 6 and it seems I've had them most everywhere I've lived growing up. It was great to hear how your interest grew from early on in life!! It's definitely been a life long love of mine!! Great to hear Joe and yourself and these great stories!!! My first cactus I bought was an Echinopsis 'Domino' from a box store in 2016, I saw that it was completely smooth compared to the others and was very cute, I loved it.. I kept it on my desk under a lamp but it turned etoliated. When I got help from the reddit community they told me that it's obviously a cactus and it needs sunlight duhh. I'm like Okay that makes sense because it is a cactus after all so I put it outside in summer against a wall. The blazing dry California heat bleached it white in one afternoon and it ended up getting cooked. I guess after being inside for so long it could not bare the direct sun and heat and I lost it. I often think about how nice it would be if I still had the first cactus that called out to me. You are VERY fortunate to have all of your first cactus, and that your brother got FOUR! You are an amazing plant keeper! I hope other people will watch your video and realize just how special the first plants you get are and to do their own research on how to care for them. I think one of the problems is that many cactus aren't even labeled with their species name so people have no idea what to research in terms of care when just starting out.
@desertplantsofavalon18 күн бұрын
THANK YOU SO MUCH for the very kind 'super Thanks' donation, and thanks so much for your wonderful words, so sorry you lost your Echinopsis domino cactus, so many cactus are not labelled in the stores and its such a shame that they don't have the names and care information on the plants when they have them for sale, I really am so lucky to still have the four plants from when I was a kid, I have lost quite a few other cacti over the years but these four have stayed alive all of these 4 decades, I really did get 'hooked' haha on these awesome plants and over the years my passion and addiction for these plants have just kept growing, I really am cactus and succulent crazy haha, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from the Emerald Isle for a fantastic Thursday XXXX

Hey Lyn!!! What an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING story and journey of yours from your very first four (...I LOVE how we both seem to have started off with a tiny collection of just FOUR, very special plants, hahaha!). And WOW, also brilliant to hear from you about the different, special people in your life, like your brother, who were so key to helping you getting started on the way to building all your wonderful and truly inspiring knowledge and experience AND the incredible collection you have today! I also LOVED how, by pure coincidence, we both started our collections and got 'hooked' (or 'spined' as you said, lol) at the age of 12!!! Thank you for sharing your WONDERFUL cactus journey and story, so, so cool and interesting to hear!! And once again a huge THANK YOU for this awesome and truly fun collaboration!! Very best cactus greetings and wishes to you and Hans, over on the beautiful Emerald Isle, a super Sunday and a wonderful week ahead, happy growing my friends!! 🙏🙏🙏👍☺️🙌🌵🪴🌵🌿🪴🌵💚💚💚☀️😎🙋♂️
