My girlfriend bought me a guitar for my 70th birthday which is something I always wish I had taken up when I was in my twenties. I have always loved music since listening to Elvis and the blues masters of the early days. Now that I have a guitar, the instrument does not seem so mysterious to me. I really enjoy your videos and I am slowly learning how to create musical sounds which is very good for the brain at any age. Thanks for these lessons. They are very helpful.

Thanks again for the reassurance. Before I got the guitar, I had no idea what my favorite musicians were doing when they performed on stage. I just saw their fingers moving up and down the neck at such a fast clip that I thought they were magicians. I am not as old as Keith Richards or Bob Dylan so I still have time to develop my skills and make music. You have been very helpful in my quest to become a guitar player.

Erich, thank you for your online lessons. You are very cerebral and articulate. I'm 79 years old and have all kinds of obstacles that I am learning to deal with in this new guitar journey I'm taking. I had "trigger finger" release surgery on two fingers of each hand a couple of years ago. I have a benign essential tremor and some arthritis in the middle finger on each hand. Oh, I also have small hands and short fingers. I've been working at this fairly diligently for the last 6 months and have gotten frustrated and disappointed, but I'm determined to make some kind of decent music one of these days. Your lessons really help!

I love that, my friend. Thank you for the kind words. Without any of those things guitar is challenging, so the fact that you’re working with those things is very commendable. Cheers to you.

I kept asking people the “trick” to not muting my chords. The combination of exasperation and hope that came from the realization your video brought me to… Oh. You’ve got to learn, and you’ve got to practice. There’s no magic trick to making it sound better. It’s investing the time and patience into learning how to play the instrument. I’ve got a long journey ahead of me, sir. But I hope it winds up with me playing a little Journey some time not too far away.

I've been "messing around" with guitar for a while now, never could get the sound from the chords they they should be. Since I found your channel I now know why. Like Ron below I wish I would have found this thirty years ago maybe I would have stuck with it. But as you said Its never too late. Thanks for the great videos! Keep it up.

I've just accepted the fact that my B7 (open position) is in the poop zone. My G barre chord and sometimes my C barre chord is in the zone as well. I'm sure it's pretty common to have trouble with the open B string when learning the B7 properly. Nothing Else Matters is really the first song that forced me to play the B7, and now that I'm into blues as well it's important I keep at this whole B7 thing

Hello Mr. Andreas. My guitar has a lot of space between strings and the fretboard (around 8 mm) due to which there is a pause in the chord transition, buzzing sounds, mute notes etc. How do I correct this? P.S. - Neck of the guitar is not bent. Lot of people confirmed that.
@yourguitarsage7 жыл бұрын
It may just be the size of your guitar! You could either just get used to the way it is or try a different guitar!

I am getting many muted notes. My knuckles hurt. I feel my fingers get contorted trying hard to leave space between the stock and fingers... frustration creeping in. I am trying really hard to play on finger tips, leave space below the stock, use correct fingers..my chords look so unachievable...will i make it. I have to. Just work harder?

i'm my third month in learning chords and now transitions through a song. i have issues still with the D chord oddly enough, it's been my nemesis, not sure why. i do have to adjust the action i've heard from others, bc the 1st and 2nd string are higher than the others, that could be as well, but this chord seems also to buzz when lifting off to go to next chord. while i don't have that with other chords. if i don't press really hard and stay pressing hard equally all three strings of the D chord, i get this buzzing, and it actually hurts and i know it should not, i am ok in making the clear sound when pressing, it's the 'lift off' if you will. i can't seem to get over this hump and i'm in month 3 of this practice. i've learned a few songs and play them well (they don't involve the d chord, lol) any suggestions

My wussy little hand is not strong enough to hold my chords correctly for the entirety of a song... I play ukulele so I wasn’t really expecting to struggle so much with guitar (I’ve been playing 2 weeks) I’ve got my chord shapes and progressions down, but it’s so frustrating having my hand burn out so quick. Are there hand/finger exercises you recommend, or will strength just come with time?
