It’s funny, about five years or so ago I decided to stop buying new clothes.... I had way too much and couldn’t possibly wear everything..... so whenever I felt like I wanted something new I would go “shopping” in my closet ! It really worked! But then what happened after I stopped buying new clothing was I went on overload with buying Tarot and Oracle decks..... so starting this year I’m trying out the tactic that helped me with the clothing overload..... I’m shopping my shelves when the urge to buy a new deck hits. I have not been very successful, but I’m working on it!

Sounds like we've been on similar paths... it really works to shop your own clothes, doesn't it? I believe we can achieve the same thing regarding shopping our own (Tarot) shelves. I'm sure you'll find a method that works for you!

I love the way you organize and deeply consider your collection 😍 Each deck seems to have such an important and prominent place in your work, it was really helpful to hear what you had to say about tarot overwhelm and your tips! 💚

Love the concept of shopping your own shelves. I keep almost all of my decks out of their boxes in piles of cards which is a great way to keep my collection small. Some rotate and it's evident when a deck is out of its box staring at me whether or not I truly love that deck as well. Love your videos, Anna! 🔮

Great video Anna! My collection is about the same size, but I can still feel some overwhelm sometimes and feel that I’m not giving decks the time they deserve. What I’ve been doing recently: every week I put two decks on the table where I journal in the morning, one a bit more snappy and one more meditative and will use these decks for my daily draws. I rotate these decks although they can also be the same from week to week, but it creates a structure to work with different decks over a longer period of time. For bigger readings I generally chose a deck that feels appropriate for the reading, and I also try to make time every week for the study of decks that I study more formally through journalling. It has been working quite well so far!

You do sound very structured, Kim! And it sounds like it's working well for you, that's great to hear. I like that it shines through in your comment that you know what energy or voice each deck in your collection brings to the (Tarot) table, so you always have exactly what you need. Thanks for sharing!

I really enjoyed this so much Anna! ❤😊 I really find storage decisions impact how I engage with my decks. I initially kept all my decks in an amazing trunk my mum found at an antique shop, along with all of my spiritual / divination supplies (incenses, candles, reading cloths, whatever) that were not actively in use; however, I got frustrated as the decks on the bottom were neglected. I had a wall-mounted shelf made and put them all there -- so they are all visible, sorted roughly by "type" (Marseille together with pip decks beside, Smith-Waite decks together, nature/animal decks together, etc). This has worked better for me. My shelf has four 'sections' though, and I'd been pondering reorganizing into four areas... and I think your idea of seasons actually may be what I go with. It makes complete sense since I do seem to gravitate toward different decks seasonally anyway. You've inspired me to play around with it.
@AstralLadyTarot3 жыл бұрын
I'm so happy to hear that! I'm sure it will refresh it a little bit and perhaps you'll get to know your decks even better once they roll around seasonally. Thanks for sharing. I can imagine storing away decks where they're hard to reach can result to feeling like we're neglecting some of them. Great that you found a solution

Well my tarot deck collection has turned into a little bit of a museum to reduce the overwhelm I usually let the person I'm reading for pick the decks out
@AstralLadyTarot3 жыл бұрын
That sounds like a very good system! I prefer to choose the deck for the reading, it's also what I'm gravitating towards that day

This is exactly what I'm trying to figure out this year. I have a large collection, and while I don't mind having some decks that just are collector's items, I do want to use more of my decks, so exploring a massive reorganization of how I store my decks so I can more easily access them is on the docket for this summer. I always love your videos. 💙

Thanks Corvin, I also enjoy yours! This storing away has been working well for me. Will you share what works for you?

I have a similar, yet different system. I have decks on shelves in various places, but I keep about 6 out on my tarot desk - that I rotate out whenever I am called to do so, one or two oracle decks in my meditation space, a couple of decks in my bedroom, one or more in the kitchen, and even one by the front door....lol. Rotating them and making them accessible throughout the house help me to connect with more of my decks than I otherwise would, I think. Thanks for sharing your system and thoughts. 🥰

That's great! You actually remind me I sometimes do a similar thing. I sometimes keep my Wildwood and Tarot of a Moon Garden on my night stand so I can read the cards in bed ;)

This works for me as well. Every month I select 4 or 5 decks to work with, two or three for clients, one to read for myself, another one fow shadow work. Then, the following month I access whether I want to continue working with all of them and I might replace one, two or all of them. Or I might keep working with the same decks. It is not a rotational thing to me because ultimately I go with my feelings and there is one deck that has been on my table for years now! But as a Virgo lady, systems make sense to me!! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on that!! 🙏💕
@AstralLadyTarot3 жыл бұрын
We agree on systems, it sounds like! It doesn't surprise me you choose your decks based on feelings, that makes perfect sense. I like that you don't mind switching it all up, or just a few, or not at all and accept that you sometimes feel the need to keep working with a particular deck for a much longer time. It's fluid, that's a nice open relationship to have with Tarot decks.

Thanks Anna! You have a very refined and thoughtful collection. Beautiful. Love your choices. Inspired 🦇💓 My collection's rather chaotic atm! In process of organizing and downsizing. Aspiring to create or discover a method that includes perfume too. Love the seasonal and elemental methods mentioned!

I can tell you it's going to feel great to organize and downsize a bit! For me, it's one of the steps I took that made me get to know the decks I have a little better. That perfume thing sounds interesting, did you tell me about that earlier? It rings a bell..

I'm also trying this back to basics thing in my life _for all things, including tarot. And what I've done is I've kept two decks out, the radiant rws and the tdm Jodorowsky . i keep the rws in my purse and my tdm in my desk. and these are the two that I just want to focus on this year. Once in a while. On a quiet Sunday afternoon like this one I will open up my trunk and spend time looking at my other decks. Using different decks for different seasons is something new and interesting, I think I will try this.
@AstralLadyTarot3 жыл бұрын
This is great to hear! The two decks you mention are great readers, I think. And I love the idea of having all the other decks tucked away in a trunk and you can go and visit them whenever you feel the need to spend time with them. It's kind of like the difference between being with your family that you live with, and visiting friends.
