This is the difference between a gardener and a true landscaper. My gardener would never do this. He wouldn't even know how. Very well done and very well explained sir. 👍

Thanks Pete, I am seeing some Bermuda grass coming through my Cool Blue Turf. Not a massive but I can see it pop up here and there.

I like bermuda in the summer gets plush and keep it high, yet the winter brown and late spring bloom is maddening to wait for. But my front lawn is small about 12ft x 60ft near the woods. Thinking of adding some bluegrass to it to introduce some spring green.

I’m on round up application number four to finally kill it all off I am in the middle of a renovation and you’re right it’s a lot of work but I’m OK with that but I’ll tell you this and I’ll tell anybody else. the most difficult thing I’ve ever tried to kill in my lawn is Bermuda grass I don’t know what’s in it but I’ll tell you …. God made the grass really really resilient because you really got a poison the heck out of it to get it to die thank you for your insight Pete everybody loves you man ….take care

Hey Pete, I am 2 weeks into my new tall fescue lawn germinating and it's coming in very nicely. There are just a very few spots where bermuda must have been dormant in the soil I tilled because it is starting to come up aggressively alongside my fescue. It's a small area of my lawn (maybe 15'x15'). Any less drastic measures I can take just to spot treat and get rid of that bermuda?

I usually spread my mulch beds with round up but I also add the triple sf or 3 way pesticide to kill it quick so it works faster. Can I do the same thing on the area where there is Bermuda and fescue grass mixed together. Will the ground not get contaminated and not let it grow in the future pure fescue. Thank you mr Pete.

Nice doing total renovation. Sprayed 3 x ..2 yrs ago. But, patches keep coming up in my new seed start test patch. So, if I till water, try to get the Bermuda happy, and round up a few more times will I be ok? Then seed with fescue heavy like you guys. Alternatively seed heavy, and deal with the patches later? (Pylex for patches. Roundup for stands now short. Aeovate mix in 1/2 seed. 1/2 seed on top. )

Hey Pete You can selectively treat for Bermuda grass/common wire grass using selective herbicides in a cool season lawn. If your starting a new lawn just use non-selective herbicides such as round-up. If not use a selective herbicide Hinse the name. Here are my favorite that seem to work best ORNAMEC with Aqua Zorb Fluazifop-p-butyl Kills Bermuda grass/weeds but won't harm the fescue. Only kills Bermuda when leaves are green during active growing season/warm season also add in with chemical Aqua Zorb is a (surfactant) which makes it stick to leaves. Baby shampoo works the same. Turflon ester does same as ORNAMEC cheaper price Fusillade 2 & Turflon works well too for Bermuda treatment Bayer makes a garden hose spray which is easy to use howeve take many applications called Bayer Bermuda control for lawns. One last product works extremely well however it’s expensive made by BNSF called PYLEX. Don't leave any leafs on the lawn because they don't break down good in the soil causing future problems. Spot treat weeds NO blanket granulated weed and feed. Your paying from product that you don't use and spreading chemicals you don't need. Spot treat weeds that's what the Scott's professionals do Leaving fertilizer to do fertilizer work. Getting just the weed that needs the treatment. Hope this helps.

I’m surprised to hear you don’t have to dig up the Bermuda rhizomes before reseeding- won’t they come back? - asking because my front yard has become inundated with the stuff and I’m looking for answers

OK I have the same problem but the Bermuda does not seriously reappear until the dogs days summer in July and August. The renovation was September 2016 and the "after" pictures eight months later, which means April/May time frame. What does it look like in mid/late summer when Fescue is stressed and Bermuda thriving? Trust me, I want this to work, I just find fescue extremely tough to get rid of.

I can distinctly see where my bermuda is growing since its all brown now during the winter. Can I use the round up on the bermuda while it's brown? Also how long to wait before seeding the area or sod? I'm in So NV. Thank you

Hey Pete, Charlotte NC here. I love your videos and work by the way. I'm love the added drone view too! I have a question about my lawn. I have a tall fescue lawn that's been doing well until this humid and rainy weather. My lawn is on an organic fertilization program. The grass isn't as green as I think is should be, some patches look as though a mower came through and cut it and it's a little brown but not completely...kinda hard to explain without showing pictures. Is this some kind of disease or fungus you can think of? Also I failed to put down a fungus control in the spring. Thanks for your help!

If you have full sun you should grow bermuda, it needs no fertilizer if you leave the clippings on the lawn. Fescue will never do well in full sun. The common mistake folks make with fescue is mowing it too short, never below 3 inches and up it to 4 inches from June to mid September. There is no such thing as short fescue. A new turf is coming, micro clover, check it out. A new way of thinking about a lawn is over due. Your pollinators will love you!

Bermuda is much cheaper than fescue, once established you are good to go other than a soil test for pH every few years. Fescue must be reseeded every fall because it only lives for three years so you need to replace that third year crop that is dying off. Fescue seed ain't cheap. Bermuda requires much less water once established. Have you checked out the new turf, micro-clover,? Fescue must be fertilized, bermuda doesn't. In micro-clover turf the clover provides all the nitrogen the lawn needs, yeah its not all grass but from a distance you can't tell. I know there is a lot of money to be made by companies that maintain fescue, because it is never ending. No bermuda is not a good choice for up north but here in southeastern Virginia fescue is the neediest of all turf grasses, bermuda in full sun or St. Augustine for shady areas. Neither needs fertilizing and an inch of water a week is all they need, no fertilizer equals a healthier Chesapeake Bay for all of us.
