I've been looking through blanket videos for days. Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for. Simple. Versatile. And clear instructions! Everyone wants to crochet blankets but they're holey and ugly! This is beautiful! I'm using Bernat blanket yarn which is most popular in the crochet crowd. I'm so excited! I'm going to do exactly what you said and knit a swatch to see how many stitches to the inch. Thank you again!

If anyone was still wondering about the border 16 stitches to 14 stitches thing, it's because she is doing a slip stitch edge. You slip the first stitch and purl the last stitch of every row so the edge is smooth.

Thea Stewart I so desperately want to be a continental knitter but I just can't seem to get the continental purl to work for me. I have been an avid crocheter for years so holding the working yarn my right hand feels so alien.
@theastewart67217 жыл бұрын
I can understand that. Just keep practicing. I've got the purls down. I switched to Continental years ago. There are some tutorials out there that can teach you different ways to purls using the Continental method. I think one may be the Norwegian purl. Do a search. It involves moving your needle more but it keeps good tension. It is great for ribbing. I don't really use it because my tension is good but I'm glad to know the stitch. Get online and search these out. There are many. Hope this helps. Good luck!!

It’s a *great* idea to knit a blanket and send it to Australia. We are 5 days into 2020 and half of the country is burning down. Half a billion animals have tragically died, and blankets are being accepted for the animals that barely managed to escape but got sent to veterinary centres.

This is a beautiful blanket and extra special for babies because of the variety of textures. Do you have any suggestions of what to knit in order to practice Jeny's extra stretchy bind-off? It seems a little complicated for a beginning knitter. (I've been practicing stitching by making dishcloths.)

I have a quick question…I noticed on your “border edges” each row changed from 16 to 15 to 14 at the ends of each row…is there a reason they aren’t the same number of border stitches?
@ExpressionFiberArts2 жыл бұрын
Hi Beverly, thank you for your question. Each side of the border actually has 15 sts throughout. The difference of sts remaining (that you see in the pattern instructions) are just a result of the stitch pattern repeat. The amount of border stitches is not changing. Hope this makes sense and is helpful.

I just started knitting about a month ago and I am about to start on this project. My question is this: my smallest needles that I have available are size 9. How would using 9 impact this pattern?
@ExpressionFiberArts4 жыл бұрын
Since a size 9 needle is larger, the stitches will be looser and bigger. This will make the blanket bigger if you are using the same number of stitches that the pattern calls for.

Good Morning! What yarn can I use that is comparable to this yarn?

Any sport weight yarn should work. Or you can try this yarn that we have: www.expressionfiberarts.com/categories/fingering.html

so did you use one ball of yarn in each color or 3 balls of yarn in each color for this size if that makes sense? I'm bout to order some but wanna make sure I get enough :)

I used three skeins, 1 of each color to make the blanket.

Thinkibg about getting this pattern but the shop doesn’t show any of the yarn available. Can you suggest another type of yarn to use?

I would use our Sincere Sock for this pattern: www.expressionfiberarts.com/categories/fingering/sincere-sock.html We just got a shipment of the Yarn base that we used for this pattern, so we should be dyeing some up soon. ❤️
