I've been looking through blanket videos for days. Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for. Simple. Versatile. And clear instructions! Everyone wants to crochet blankets but they're holey and ugly! This is beautiful! I'm using Bernat blanket yarn which is most popular in the crochet crowd. I'm so excited! I'm going to do exactly what you said and knit a swatch to see how many stitches to the inch. Thank you again!

If anyone was still wondering about the border 16 stitches to 14 stitches thing, it's because she is doing a slip stitch edge. You slip the first stitch and purl the last stitch of every row so the edge is smooth.

You're heaven sent really! Before your videos knitting and crocheting seemed so difficult, but now I'm starting to understand the stitches and I'm gonna start actual real projects very soon. I'm still a beginner though. But I want to do this blanket so badly! It's so pretty! Thank you for your videos and you blog. I'll send you a picture when I finish my first project (which could take quite a while since I have a lot of stuff going on) because all the ones I have in mind are inspired by your videos. @theastewart6721 7 жыл бұрын
I can understand that. Just keep practicing. I've got the purls down. I switched to Continental years ago. There are some tutorials out there that can teach you different ways to purls using the Continental method. I think one may be the Norwegian purl. Do a search. It involves moving your needle more but it keeps good tension. It is great for ribbing. I don't really use it because my tension is good but I'm glad to know the stitch. Get online and search these out. There are many. Hope this helps. Good luck!!

It’s a *great* idea to knit a blanket and send it to Australia. We are 5 days into 2020 and half of the country is burning down. Half a billion animals have tragically died, and blankets are being accepted for the animals that barely managed to escape but got sent to veterinary centres.

This is a beautiful blanket and extra special for babies because of the variety of textures. Do you have any suggestions of what to knit in order to practice Jeny's extra stretchy bind-off? It seems a little complicated for a beginning knitter. (I've been practicing stitching by making dishcloths.)

I don't needle knit, but seems I can convert to loom small gauge. I have two merino sport yarn in gray so that I will use maybe for light slouchy hat, shawl or something. it isn't cheap if I remember so I have to find perfect use or buy some more in teal and white when possible. This pattern is very similar to many loom afghans. just want to say its beautiful. I do love those needles.

Hi. I'm a beginner at knitting but I do know how to do a knit stitch and a purl stitch and I guess I'll watch some videos on how to use circular needles in knitting. I want to knit a baby blanket for my daughter who is expecting a boy in October. I'm a pretty slow knitter because I've only been knitting for a couple of months. Do you think I have time to complete a baby blanket by August which is when the baby shower is or even by October when the baby arrives? I learned knitting from your videos and absolutely love them. Thank you for sharing your expertise with others who want to learn knitting.

I have a quick question…I noticed on your “border edges” each row changed from 16 to 15 to 14 at the ends of each row…is there a reason they aren’t the same number of border stitches?
@ExpressionFiberArts
@ExpressionFiberArts 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Beverly, thank you for your question. Each side of the border actually has 15 sts throughout. The difference of sts remaining (that you see in the pattern instructions) are just a result of the stitch pattern repeat. The amount of border stitches is not changing. Hope this makes sense and is helpful.

On row 16 you say to knit purl knit and do that for 6 more stitches. Is that 9 total or just the 6?

Courtney Ann I'm making this now and I was really confused also. As long as you follow the pattern to the T in that section it'll be perfect :D

I just started knitting about a month ago and I am about to start on this project. My question is this: my smallest needles that I have available are size 9. How would using 9 impact this pattern?
@ExpressionFiberArts
@ExpressionFiberArts 4 жыл бұрын
Since a size 9 needle is larger, the stitches will be looser and bigger. This will make the blanket bigger if you are using the same number of stitches that the pattern calls for.

I just have one question that I would really like u to answer, I was ordering this online, before I get it I would like to know if it comes made, or if it has the directions for it? Also what does it come with?? Everything u need to make it or just the fabric

It depends on what you order. If you order the pattern, you will get a link with the instructions on how to make it. You will not be receiving a finished item.

could this be done with the super bulky bernat baby blanket yarn? and also if I just wanted to do a solid color could I do the seed stitch border and just do knit/garter stitch for the entire interior? thanks! I made my first sample using your beginner video but I haven't picked it up since lol

Can i use lilly sugar cream yarn to knit this blanket or does have to the same yarn you have? can i just do knit 1, purl 1 through the blanket would that look weird??

Mae Xiong I knit a washcloth in sugar and cream and I don't feel that it's strong enough for a blanket. But "I love This Cotton" yarn is 10 times softer and much stronger. Great colors too.

Hello. I'm using this pattern to make a blanket. I'm using size 6 green and size 6 white yarns, and I'm using size US 13 yarn needles. I'm having a problem with changing colors. I completed rows 1-14 with the green yarn. Then I changed the color to white for rows 15-16. When I look at the reverse side, it looks like I'm creating a wrong side. The right side is good, but the wrong side is showing green, white, green...not green, then white. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Is there a way to not have this?

Could I use 7.5 circular needles instead of 6?? Or would the stitches be too loose? Just wondering before I head to the shops to buy the different size needles :)

I’m a beginner. In the first 14 rows when you are seed stitching. Do you always start with a knit? Or do you alternate what you start with?
@ExpressionFiberArts
@ExpressionFiberArts 6 жыл бұрын
You can start with either. Just follow the rule in the video of knitting the purl stitches and purling the knit stitches. : )
