Great tutorial, got to love reversible patterns when knitting blankets and scarves. I'd already started experimenting with k5, k2tog, k4, kfb repeated 5 times over 60 stitches to see what it looks like on 5mm needles using Noro Tsabame yarn. I'll use your pattern and larger needles to make a throw rug for my lounge in the same Noro yarn.

This cast on technique is as cool as the blanket. I don’t like guessing how long of a strand I need just to have to discover it’s too short, or I have a terribly long left over tail. Thank you so much.

Thank you Angie!! 💕 It's one of my favorites for a big number of cast on stitches - having to cut off excess tail or start again because you didn't leave enough is the worst!

A thousand thank you’s. I have been trying to crochet the Chevron blanket but the yarn I am using wasn’t cooperating. Changing the pattern to a knitted Chevron will take me longer but the end result will definitely be less frustrating.

I'm so glad it was helpful! I can't estimate tail lengths to save the life of me, so I need it as a go-to option haha! If you've got access to some yarn, this is a pretty quick blanket to whip up :)

Takes away the hassle of calculating and guessing for the length of the long tail cast-on. Wonderful! This pattern is so easy to remember and follow, just what I like. The result is a beautifully shaped blanket. I love it! Thank you so much! I love thick blankets that are fast to knit, so I will use a thicker yarn, a #5 (or 2 strands of a #4-Aran) and thicker needles, #13 or #15. That will make a chunky blanket in a shorter period of time.

Hi-great tutorial. I know that to adjust the size of the pattern you add (or subtract) 16 stitches per chevron. In the written pattern, what does it mean that it’s worked over multiple of 16 + 7? Are the 7 stitches already there if I start with 135 and add more chevrons? Just wondering at what point I have to worry about that 7! Thanks.
@TheSweaterCollective2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mona! Yes the 7 has already been included, so you only need to worry about adding or removing multiples of 16 if you're starting with the provided cast on number of 135. We need that 7 for our edge stitches, and then the chevrons align over each multiple of 16. The minimum number of stitches the patterning will work over is 39 ((16 x 2) + 7), but from there you could have 55 stitches ((16 x 3) + 7), 71 stitches ((16 x 4) + 7), 87 stitches ((16 x 5) + 7), et cetera.

Seems a very easy pattern .will definitely try soon . Just wanted to know,..why to start in circular needles ?it can be made in straight needles too ....
@TheSweaterCollective2 жыл бұрын
Hi Monika! You're absolutely right that you could knit this on straight needles too, but because the blanket is worked over a large number of stitches I think a circular needle is better. Choosing a circular needle with a decent cable length means that all your stitches will fit comfortably without risk they'll fall off the end of the row, and letting the cable rest in your lap also means that you don't need to hold as much weight in your arms as when stitches are on straight needles. Hope that makes sense, let me know if I can help any further!

Hello I'm curious if I wanted this wider would I cast on more stitches in icrement of 16 stitches + 7? And to make it longer would I just continue with more rows? Thank you I am planning to make this as a Christmas present and really appreciate the beautiful pattern.

I can't wait to knit this lovely blanket! Is there a reason why the first block has 21 rows and the others only 20?
@TheSweaterCollective2 жыл бұрын
Hi Aimee, sorry for my slow reply! Yes, that's because I used the long tail cast on method and I wanted the smooth side of the cast on to appear on the "right side" of the blanket. So I had to start with an extra "wrong side" row (making that first stripe 21 rows), and then did an even number of rows (20 rows) for every stripe after that to keep the neatest side of the colour changes on the "right side" of the blanket too. Let me know if that doesn't make sense!

Hi,I guess I don 't understand sth right or I have made a mistake...While kniting tge first row, starting the project,I had trouble with the knots...I knited reoeating the pattern of the knots (K11 ... K7) for 4 times and then when I was on the 5th time of the repetition,I had to suddenly stop without completing the pattern to end with the last 12 stitches....Is that right?Shouldn 't the pattern be repeated the 5th time too,before the 12 last stitches?
@sammydoodles88 Жыл бұрын
The instructions are for a 16 row repeat + 7 sts, the 7 sts are split between the garter edge stitches. So when you start each row there's a small 3-4 st garter edge then you go into pattern, when you're almost finished working the row your final 3-4 sts are actually your end point of the pattern and you're knitting your border on the last few again.
@mariamaraki8732 Жыл бұрын
Thank you!I will try it again!Seeing the video and observing 5he pattern I understood that there must be come kind of border at the edges of each row,but the ending border had to start before the last stitches of the last "triangle"/"pyramid" (meaning this "up snd down" repetitive motif) and that is were I was a bit confused...That the motiv was not completed before ending the line...

Does it matter how many stitches you cast on at the beggining??? Sorry, I'm a beginner 🤷♀️😅
@TheSweaterCollective3 жыл бұрын
Hi Cassidy, thank you for your question! Yes, the cast on number matters as the stitch pattern relies on a multiple of 16 + 7 to work. Near the end of the video (~18 min mark) I discuss how you can adjust your cast on number if necessary 😊

Hello. Unlike the 39 stitch swatch the 135 isn't perfect in terms of the repeated stitches being completed out, instead there is always two left. What do I do with them or am I missing something? I've started over 7 times and about to throw in the towel because the swatch came out perfectly and thought the blanket would be the same but km really struggling. Please help

@TheSweaterCollective2 жыл бұрын
Hi Apisaranamfon, thanks for reaching out with your question! Something must've been missed in your patterning if you're ending up with 1 extra stitch at the end. When you do get to those last 12 stitches, are you working the first 2 of them as a k2tog?
@apisaranamfonprompratum65142 жыл бұрын
@@TheSweaterCollective yes i did it .
@TheSweaterCollective2 жыл бұрын
@@apisaranamfonprompratum6514 hmmm, the only other thing I can suggest without seeing your work close up is to carefully check along your row and make sure you have the correct number of stitches between every increase and decrease. With 135 stitches, the patterning should definitely be working out as written. It might be worth casting on again and counting through the first row slowly if the missing stitch doesn't reveal itself.

Useful in a tutorial if you're knitting along and not looking directly at the video, kudos to her. Personally I do this when knitting too, it's a good way to iterate what you have done vs. what will be done, especially if you have lots of distractions around you and have a long repeat pattern to work.
