I have made several hats with this tutorial when my son was at home. He is now in college and he uses his hats all the time. I just bought some yarn to make a new hat with the colors of his college.😉

I've only made a couple things, so far. A few wash cloths and a hat, knitted in the round. It didn't have any decreases so, I think I'll do this one next to practice more purling, and decreasing, but shorter, no cuff. Thanks for posting, and for the great idea.

My left hand is my dominant hand. I was taught to knit right handed but the older I have become I prefer what is continental knitting even though this is actually German. My family is Italian and Italians knit with the none working needle under the arm.

In continental style of knitting the yarn stays stationary. It's the needle that moves to grab the yarn. 😊

Interesting that you used the whip stitch to sew it up. It is one of my favorite stitches but most patterns call for the mattress stitch. I always knit my hats in the round so I don’t have to deal with seams. Having said that I really need to practice!! Thanks!

1st question: How do I finish the first row? I don’t know the process on the last stitch and then starting the second row? 2nd question: What do you mean by “turn your work”? Like flip the needles around or just make sure that the knitted sections are turned the same way?
@bhookedcrochet4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jacqueline! You'll finish the last stitch of each row the same way you work the others. Then to start the next row, flip the needle that has all the stitches on it like you're turning the page of a book. Hope this helps!

Following your tutorial has been wonderful! I’m knotting the large size and the only thing I’m genuiniely confused about is that you said during the crown shaping that we’re doing the same pattern rows 1-6 but on the red heart pattern it says rows 4-6 small size only? So do I skip them? Help!
@loving1109956 жыл бұрын
Tori Alexandra I would say do what the pattern says for the larger size.. I made the smaller size but on larger needles and cut out a couple rows because I didn't want my hat to be too tall.. So the decreasing part, rows 4-6, I only did two rows..

While she's using circular needles, she did not connect the ends and work the hat in a continuous spiral, it comes out as a flat square. She had to sew up the sides of the hat to make it wearable. Hope that helps clear up your confusion.
