OMW! I'm 67 - I don't knit often but when I've knitted baby jackets like this I've always done from bottom up and individual sections - front, back, two sleeves. How have I not known it can all be done as one?? I HAVE to try this. I've no one to knit for but I'm sure I can find someone to donate it too. Glad I've found your channel. I've never knitted before; this is my first project. (I crocheted baby booties once, though.) First, I looked up tutorials for each stitch. Then, I skimmed through all three videos to understand how each part is put together. Next, I practiced the first several rows on scrap yarn four times until they came out not wonky and looked like the tutorial. I also tried knitting it left handed, (my dominant hand), but it's just too confusing, so I'm going to knit it right handed. My supplies arrived in the mail and it took three days to knit the sweater. I made a few errors, but they're hardly noticeable. I learned a lot, and the sweater turned out pretty well. Hopefully my new niece/nephew will enjoy! Thanks so much for the tutorial!

hi and thank you for this pattern and the nice clear video instructions. Since I will be knitting a number of these cardigans for my first grandbaby and it is many years since I have knitted I wanted to also follow you written instructions as I am watching at half speed. At the end of the 5th row in written instructions it says I should have 50 stitches but I had less. Confusion followed and I want perfection for this first baby item. Eventually I noticed that you say cast on 40 stitches in video but 42 in written. This is not mentioned to annoy you or any bad reason but just to save the brainpower of anyone who has slow brainpower for medical reasons (like me lol). Thanks again for your efforts and free pattern 😀

Hi! I hope it’s not too late to help you. I’m doing this with a medium-loose gauge with 40 stitches + the slip knot and I think it’s a great size for a 6-12 months baby!!

So question.. on the row where you are making the first button holes, around minute 14:40, are you working the knit or purl side here and also, at the end of the row at minute 14:44, how do you only have 2 stitches past the last stitch marker instead of three? I feel like I missed something.

You're such a lovely lady and this is a great tutorial, I truly hate to criticise or judge but I'm very confused, the video and written instructions differ (at least to me, of course I could be missing something). I cast on 42 stitches (per written instructions) which I believe from the comments to be correct. I am now at the finished increases stage but have 130 stitches and according to the written pattern I should have 128. But, if you start with 42 and end up with 128 that's an increase of 86 stitches which is not a multiple of 8 (which is what you increase in every second row). The 130 stitches that I have makes mathematical sense but I don't want to proceed in case I have missed something. Any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

The video and the printed pattern are not the same. If you start with 42 st (as the pattern says) and knit 14 st between the increases for the back, your count of 130 st is correct.
