♥️♥️♥️ Wrapping the rope around the needle as many times as you must cast-on is a VERY CLEVER way to estimate the tail length. I wish I'd thought of that! 😄😄😄 I should have thought of it because I actually use a similar technique when working with wire wrapping jewelry. I only learned to knit 2 weeks ago and my brain is trying to soak up knitting techniques like a sponge so thank you very much for that very useful tip! 👍🙏😀

This is great!👍😊 I made one of these potholders following instructions from they first and different video I found but it is also Knitted with garter stitches. ❓ QUESTION.... I'm a crocheter and not a knitter so I was wondering how to deal with the frayed ends of my macrame rope? After I was finished, I left a three or four inch tail to weave in. After weaving it in, I trimmed it very close but even so, it still looks tacky because the frayed edges are poking out. Otherwise, I did a beautiful job on it. How can I stop the fraying? It really takes away from the beauty and the effort I put into making it. I assume glue is not an option because it will be used for picking up hot items. Do you have any suggestions? ❓❓❓ Thank you so much! 😊

Her link to supplies is missing but I learned to knit ONLY 2 WEEKS AGO and have seen many videos for knitting this Garter Stitch trivet but the 1st tutorial recommended: ⭐⭐ 6 mm diameter COTTON MACRAME ROPE and a size 13 or 9 mm diameter knitting needles, and around 75ft of rope.⭐⭐ Since I couldn't find 6 mm rope, ⭐I bought 5 mm cotton macrame rope from Amazon and it turned out perfect! As for the knitting needles, I saved myself $13 by ⭐MAKING THEM MYSELF. I bought a 7/16 inch wooden dowel 4ft long at Home Depot and used their saw to cut it into four equal pieces. Then I used a cheap student pencil sharpener (the largest of 2 holes) to sharpen the ends. I used a fine grit nail file to sand the point smooth. The cost was a whopping $1.24 and I got two sets of knitting needles out of 1 Dowel. This may be more info than needed but hopefully some or all of it will be helpful to someone. Happy knitting!😃😃😃

Why do you slip first stitch as if to purl with yarn in front

It creates a clean edge rather than a bump at the edge of each row.

How many feet/yards is needed to complete this project?

Around 75ft in a 5mm or 6mm cotton macrame rope but it's better to have extra than not have enough. I used 5mm and it turned out great!👍

Bought the same Mac-Re-Me recycled cotton yarn, but it just unraveled immediately. I am new but this yarn was unusable.
