Thank you for writing the pattern over. I’ve had this pattern on my list for years to do. Every winter I look at it but get discouraged with the original pattern. I just read your pattern. I can finally make these slippers. 🎉

You have a lot of really cool videos. Love the celebrity hat. Um, I dont know if anyone else notice this. I did read the comments but not all of them. Garter stitch is when you knit all the rounds and what you are doing at the beginning of the boot is stockinette. I really like the look of these boots. I am going to give it a go. I hope it will not be too hard for a lrft handed knitter like myself.

Question for you Christine! At 13:08, you're starting the pattern for the loose leg part.. Row1: Knit all for garter stitch. Row2: Knit and increase the 6 sts. Row3: Isn't it suppose to be RS? So P3, K2, P2, K6, etc.? Thank you for answering :)
@iKNITS10 жыл бұрын
So rows 1&2 you need with increasing on row 2. Then you start the A.1 which starts on the wrong side. So your row 3 would be on the WS. I wrote it out on my blog so it would be easier to understand. But I'll put it here: A.1 Row 1(WS): K3, P2, K2, P6, K2, P6, K2, P2, K3 Row 2(RS): K5, P2, K6, P2, K6, P2, K5 Row 3(WS): K3, P2, K2, P6, K2, P6, K2, P2, K3 Row 4(RS): K5, P2, K6, P2, K6, P2, K5 Row 5(WS): K3, P2, K2, P6, K2, P6, K2, P2, K3 Row 6:(RS): K5, P2, slip 3 sts on cable needle in front of piece, K 3, K 3 from cable needle, P2, slip 3 sts on cable needle behind piece, K 3, K 3 from cable needle, P2, K5 Row 7(WS): K3, P2, K2, P6, K2, P6, K2, P2, K3 Row 8(RS): K5, P2, K6, P2, K6, P2, K5 Last Row 8: K5, P2, K2tog(3 times), P2, K2tog(3 times), P2, K5 Knit the next 2 rows. Then BO. Let me know if this helps!

In your instructions, you say (in the foot portion): When piece measures 3/4''(2cm), K2tog on each side of every marker on every other round(or every knit round) - 4 sts decrease per round. Continue dec until piece measures 2"(2", 2½") 5cm(5cm, 6cm) I was wondering if when you measure the 2", is this from the last measurement (after you have measured the 3/4") or from when you start to knit the sides?

I pulled the 11 stitches back on the cable, picked up 16, put the stitches from the holder back on the needle, & then picked up 16 stitches again, but my working yarn isn't at the end of the needle like yours is, I'm not sure how to get it to that. I've tried it 3 different times & yet I still can't seem to understand. I'm a beginner & a very very visual learner. I'm not sure how to get the working thread to the tip of the needle so we can still continue knitting.

When you place the majority of your stitches on the stitch holder and then continue the garter st on the 11 sts... you said to continue until it is 4". But do you mean the entire piece (as in from the very beginning, counting the first 1.5") or do you mean that that new section of just 11 sts (well 13 once you added one on either end) with be 4"? Sorry if that was not worded very clearly! :)

garter stitch is normally just knitting rows, stockinette stitch is knit 1 row purl 1 row. or is it on different patterns that there is a different meaning for it?

Hi ... you appear to have THREE (3) markers on the needles ... ONE mid-heel, ONE mid-toe, and ONE at the beginning of the 11 stitches. Are you decreasing on each side of ALL THREE markers or just at the mid-heel and mid-toe? Thank you.
@iKNITS10 жыл бұрын
So one of the markers is to know where my round started. The other two are mid toe and mid heel. You k2tog on both sides of the mid toe and mid heel stitch every other round. So 4 decrease in one round. So we aren't decreasing on the stitch marker that I'm using to know where my round starts. Does that make sense?

On the picture of the finished slippers, the sides of the foot have the rows going horizontally, but they are vertical with your instructions. Are you doing a different method and if so, is the only way to get the look from the picture to just make the top and sole as separate pieces, and then sew them together with a long thin piece for the sides?
@chelseamoore599310 жыл бұрын
My apologies, it seems that in the original pattern, where it explains exactly how to make the heel of a sock or slipper, is actually for the top of the slipper. I detest DROPS patterns.

I am SUPER confused at one thing...all of the magic loop tutorials say to MAKE SURE your working yarn is OVER the back needle when pulling the needle off to work with it. However, when you PURL for the second row, the yarn can't be over the back needle when pulling the needle out. If so, it creates another stitch, so is it safe to assume that Knit = Yarn Over, Purl = Yarn in between needles? Thanks!!

+Trisha A Hello Trisha, if I were you, I would work on some other easier patterns before beginning this one. This is not a beginner pattern and I think it will cause you more headache than you'd like until you have a little more experience. But if you think you can, then I say go for it!

can these be made on a loom, and if do, how do I go about it. 😶

Megan Oliver I am not sure..I've only used a loom once or twice and it's been a long time ago.

Sorry me again. At 8:26 you said knit for inches but the text said three quarter inch. Is there a reason for two different notes?
@iKNITS11 жыл бұрын
There are two different sizes, or maybe even 3, can't remember. So that's probably why it's different. I made the biggest size.
@j2cool210 жыл бұрын
***** I think you misunderstand. At 8:26 you say to knit for 4 inches (for the largest size slipper which I am knitting too) but the instructions and words that show in the video say to only knit for 3/4 inches. That is what I am pointing out and wondering why you are doing different? It is the nice the difference in size but appears to be an error with the instructions being given. If you watch your video you will see it.

j2cool2 She does not mean 3/4 inches the 3/4 mean 3 OR 4.

How many rows do you need to do for what? I would try to read the written instructions. It takes a while to figure out what it's talking about, but it is achievable. It's hard to know how to help you when I'm not sure where you're stuck.

What sized straight needles are you using for the leg portion? Size 10?

I wish had shown how puutting the stitches on the holder. I am confused at how to do it. The written instructions say, leave the first. Number of stitches on the needle and then put.a certain number of stitches on the holder. But how do I get pass the first number of stiytches to keep on the needle?
@iKNITS9 жыл бұрын
+j2cool2 So what I did was slipped them off starting at the last stitches on my right needle, and worked my way towards the left needle. Hope that helps and sorry I just saw this! Ahhh!

doing magic loop, do you knit both parts (all the stitches ) as 1 round or do half the stitches count as a round?

Do you happen to have the written pattern for the booties? I may have missed it if it was posted some where else. I like to knit outside the home and can't use my computer. Thanks
@iKNITS10 жыл бұрын
Yes I always post the written pattern underneath the video in the description bar. Let me know if you have trouble finding it!
@asiago10010 жыл бұрын
***** Your video is for magic loop. The pattern is on double pointed needles. Any video for dpns?
@iKNITS10 жыл бұрын
Nope. You make it the exact same way, just with DPNs. Do you know how to use DPNs?
@asiago10010 жыл бұрын
***** Yes, can pretty much do anything, except this pattern. It needs some tweeking. I'm sure it's just me.

Ya this pattern is very aggravating sometimes. I might rewrite it for them so it's easier to understand.

when watching on youtube, just after you have picked up all the stitches, you say that you begin with a Knit because you have just finished a pearl row. Don't understand that as when I pick up all the stitches as you show, my starting thread to knit is on the left side of my work and not the right side as yours is. Could you please explain, do you purl a row after picking all stitches up?

Edwina B i am still waiting for a reply please
@irenewalraven67569 жыл бұрын
Edwina B I had the same problem and came to the conclusion that i picked up my stitches with my wrong needle... you pick all the stitches up with 1 needle. including the stitches on your stitch holder. (first you pick up 16 stitches on 1 side, then you pick up the stitches on your stitch holder, and then pick up 16 stitches on the other side)
@edwinab31239 жыл бұрын
Irene Walraven thanks. However, do you do a purl row after picking up all the stitches as, like I said, my thread to "knit" is on the left side of my work and not the right side as your is and you say "you have just finished a purl row"
@irenewalraven67569 жыл бұрын
At the beginning when you knit round 1 and purl round 2. you have to end on a purl round (so finishing 1 purl round) did you do that? or did you finished on a knitting round? maybe thats the problem.. I didnt have to do a purl row. I just knitted... But i dont think it should be a problem if you purl a row first. But im no expert knitter so im not sure.

If you're using DPNs, then it's different for you. Are you following along with the written pattern? It will make it a lot easier for you if you do that :)

FYI on the drops website, the graph should be read from right to left, bottom to top. And the loose leg starts the graph on the right side not the wrong side.

I'm confused about what to do after I pick up my stitches on each side, and off my stitch holder. How do I begin in the round again? my working yarn is on the other side of the 11 stitches. I don't know if that makes sense. lol
@iKNITS10 жыл бұрын
You have to make sure that when you pick up all your stitches, that the last stitch you pick up will be right where the start of your round is. Does that help?
