I was gonna say find a pattern or something that you want to make. Davina has tons of beginner and adventurous beginner patterns and more. Pick a vid/pattern, and settle in. The more you make the more you'll want to try.

@@sheepandstitch so it has been a few days and I have realized that my issue was that I found straight needles to be very uncomfortable in my hands and when I used circular needles, everything seemed so much easier and I have made 3 scarves (currently on the fourth). My question now is: is there an instance in which I should not use the circulars?

​@@bluuemoodd I think you should be able to do everything on circular needles that you could on straight needles. Go with circular needles!! Try different stitches (I made a seed stitch cowl), lace patterns, cables in your scarf, working with a few different colours maybe?

Hello, thank you for making these tutorials. Would you happen to have one that demonstrates how to change yarn colour when decreasing, please? I am knitting a striped blanket and started with two stitches then increased one stitch every row until I reached my desired width. Now that I am decreasing by one every row, I changed the yarn colour for the next row and the previous colour overlapped into the new row at the beginning of it. You are an amazing teacher. Your explanations are so clear. However I am confused. The knit stitch you presented is the only stitch I know. I thought I only knew the purl.... as this is what it looks like soon both sides. The knot stitch that makes a V, I have never tried. I thought it was the real knit stitch.... So to get a side with the V and a side with the curl, how do we proceed? Thank you and I will continue watching your next videos.

Great observation! I cover the knit stitch in this video, but you’ve discovered something important - the back of a knit stitch is a purl stitch, and the back of a purl is a knit. This is a unique quirk of the knit/purl stitches. They are two sides of the same coin. I go over this a bit more in my purl stitch video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZazmX-nrJt7eq8si=iZBZXILmNobtTo1n but rest assured that you’re working the knit stitch correctly. It will look like a V. The back of the knit will be a purl, which looks like a bump

It could be that you’re knitting into the front loop. I go over this at the 21:33 mark. It doesn’t result in a big hole so harder to detect

That cast on is complicated for a beginner...what about a typical long tail cast on?

I find the slingshot method to be even trickier for beginners because they need to put their hands in the slingshot position and control tension. The thumb method looks clumsy, but I’ve found beginners are actually able to do it pretty well
