First. THANK YOU! Second. Please know that you are very much appreciated for taking time out of your life to freely give all of us newbies clear instructions and showing us the why and when and how. Your kindness has enabled so many to succeed. I want to express how truly grateful I am and I believe many others share that same appreciation. You have enabled us to not only knit your sweater patterns, but to also feel that sense of accomplishment that spills over into other parts of our lives. You, dear Ashley, deserve gold stars and ice cream cones! Again THANK YOU,

Thank you so much! I had knit a sweater for my daughter as my first attempt at a sweater and did it by just winging it (I struggle with written instructions so I had just watched someone make a basic sweater using straight needles and creating panels and sewing them all together) but then I got some circular needles and followed your Fall Bluff raglan sweater tutorial and I am immensely proud that I actually made a sweater I can wear and it looks pretty good! It was exactly the encouragement I needed to build my confidence that I can learn how to continue to advance my knitting skills and I am eager to tackle another sweater with more shaping around the neckline. You have a real gift for explaining and demonstrating the why’s and how’s of these techniques. Most tutorials are more like expert knitters who have forgotten how tricky these techniques are when you are just learning and seem to always skip over the concept of why they are used, which made me feel like maybe knitting more complex projects just wasn’t going to be for me. Now I’m excited to gradually expand what is possible to do ❤

I’ve done German short rows at least 5 times but I working on a sweater pattern right now that was confusing. I think I knew what she meant but want to watch some people knit first. This helped me with the pattern but also helped me realized I was doing German Short Rows wrong! I wasn’t working the turn, so I’d knit to and then turn, instead of knitting 3 then turning. This was great, thank you for the visual overview in the beginning. I wish I watched this a couple years ago.

I like how you give instructions very easy to understand especially for beginners like me and after 2 years of knitting and crocheting I want to try on complicated ones for example this German short rows or the neck elevation in the raglan but I have a question about doing short rows and raglan increases at the same time and so I noticed from this pattern that, should we increase both from the right side and wrong side? But not alternating?
@AshleyLillisKnits Жыл бұрын
hi there! Same concept applies with raglan increases -- every other round. It's just confusing because you're just doing them on the wrong side of the work

So your short rows are in the front? Wouldn't this make the front higher then the back. I am confused sorry could you explain please? I have never tried this before just want to be sure before I start my increases
@AshleyLillisKnits3 жыл бұрын
Nope! Short rows create a dip so that the front is lower than the back. Best way to see it is to try to do it and it will make more sense!
