I got options and step by step instructions on different kinds of increases. Very helpful!

Thanks so much for these 4 increases, Ashley. When I do the YO increases, I do them a little differently bc when I’m on the next round and come to the YO, I knit through the back of the stitch instead of the front. That way, if you don’t want a lacy look, the holes are avoided. This is how I do my increases when knitting socks. Thanks, again! 😀
@liziking3062 жыл бұрын
@Bobbie Burns - I do exactly the same way with the YO... but for whatever reason, I still get a little hole. I'm not sure if this is the nature of the stitch.
@bobbieburrs25062 жыл бұрын
Maybe I tighten it a little bit, but I don’t get a hole in the toe increases at all, luckily! 😀

I have recently learned to do raglan. This tutorial is very helpful. One hint I use- to make one right I say “right back” ( like I will be right back) to remember that you insert the needle from the back. Then I know the left is the opposite.
@Rishabhfury Жыл бұрын
@@lesliebowles3649 Haha, I have a weird way of remembering it. BF (Boyfriend or back to front) is right, FB (friends with benefits or front back) is left or wrong.

I have a question, I am knitting your fall bluff sweater your showing here, but with a double mohair yarn on needle 9. With this material the raglan, with the M1L and the M1R doesn’t show so clear. Maybe mohair is not so suitable for this kind of raglan? By the way, I just finished the winter bluff with the more simple raglan on needle 5 with woolen yarn, and it worked out wonderful. What I like about your teaching is you challenge people to think for themselves. By measuring and trying, I could create a perfect fit. Hope the mohair one will also work out.

Thank you so much!!! First for not using the "American" knitting method 😉 but mostly for doing this so easy and clear and showing all 4 methods. I have only done the 4th method, because I earned that doing a shawl. Beginner here. I am currently following a knitting pattern for a top-down knitted raglan sweater, and the pattern is not done professionally, it does not describe how to do a stitch, not even using an abbreviation. The pattern is clearly made for people who have knitted for many years and know how to do every method. ...which I don't! I have spent a few hours just on trying to get the "V" at the neck done right, and I could not get it to look right!!! This is clear and should be easy to follow, I have learned so much from this. THANKS!!!!!

I had always been confused as to what m1 slant I needed. Your clear explanation of if it’s on the right of the marker it’s a m1r and if it’s to the left of the marker it’s a m1l. Was just the statement I needed to place it firmly in my brain. Outstanding! I came here via a search prompted by a vague pattern that just said m1. I know enough to know it makes a difference in how your sweater is going to look--beautiful or wonky. I wanted beautiful; hence the search. Now I can happily and confidently proceed. If you use a right lifted increase on the right and a left on the left, your raglan seam will look similar in size to your other stitches and it will allow you to adjust the number of stitches between the increases just like your other raglan increases.

There is another one I would like to try where the increases are done on one side of the marker only to create a straight band across the shoulder part. I think I would have to increase in every round in order for it to work. I am not sure what to do when reaching the armhole area. I have seen it done but don’t remember what to do at that point. I love that look because it emphasizes the shoulder part. Love to hear what you think.
