I want to learn to knit this style of mitten so I’m glad I found you. I’ve looked over several written patterns and had trouble following. Hopefully this will do the trick.

Sometimes the patterns can be a bit confusing😅 I really hope the video will help!

I love using Nepal. Haven’t tried Alaska yet. I tried making these by following a written pattern once. The palm side was salt and pepper style but I couldn’t understand the shaping instructions using two colours. This seems easier as I’m a visual learner. And that scenery is so picturesque!

I really like Nepal too, they feel quite similar. And I also prefer someone showing how to do something rather than just reading a pattern😅

I did a Shelbu mitts and the decreasing with the all around white outline had me stumped to avoid a crooked white outline at the decreasing top. Your video is good. Thank you

Great tutorial! Finished knitting my first mitten and now i'm addicted - how do you size up this pattern for bigger hands?
@elinsDIY
@elinsDIY Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yayy, it can be very addicting for sure😂👏🏻 To size up I would either cast on a few more stiches, perhaps 6 more and try adjust the pattern, make some space on either side of the «star» and knit it longer. Or here is a similar pattern with bigger sizes: www.garnstudio.com/pattern.php?id=11577&cid=17

@@mentalalchemysubliminals thank you! ❤️ Maybe a little challenging if you have never knitted with two colors, but it should doable for a beginner! Or you could knit them first without the colorwork:)

Thank you for a great video. Showing the progress on the chart was very helpful. I have done Fair Isle and strand colorwork, but never a Scandanavian mitten, so this really helped!

What do i do when i forgot to twist the pink yarn?
@elinsDIY
@elinsDIY 10 ай бұрын
Usually it’s fine if you forget to twist the yarn as long as you don’t pull it too tight. It might be possible to twist the yarn on the round after, to secure it a little so you don’t have a big loop hanging in there. Hope that helped!

I think that you used big needles... Usually these mittens are made with needle sizes 3-3.5 mm. Of couse with smaller size yarn as well
@elinsDIY
@elinsDIY 8 ай бұрын
Hi! That’s true, but this is a different pattern made for this type of yarn and thickness😄
@KaySkywalker
@KaySkywalker Күн бұрын
It depends on preference for a large mitt using 3.75 or depending on the yarn thickness I have used size 4 My hands arent small and it feels snug using 3.5. Its preference. There is no wrong size to really use.
