This is helpful, thank you. I’m working the back of a cardigan that calls for sloped bind off on both sides. Any special advice for that?
@BrooklynTweed_Official Жыл бұрын
Hello! There are a couple of ways to do this - your pattern might have you binding off at the beginning of every row, working one shoulder's bind-off on the RS rows and the other on the WS rows (possibly with some neck shaping in the middle!), or you might be working one shoulder at a time, binding off only on the RS or the WS rows. Happy knitting!

@@BrooklynTweed_Official - I thought she meant the back where the neck is. Would be nice to see a video showing how to do that for the front or back center where you're binding off on both sides of the neck.

Thank you! Is this the method to bind off a neckline?
@BrooklynTweed_Official3 жыл бұрын
You're very welcome! You'll often see this method used for binding off shoulders, but it would certainly be useful for necklines or anywhere you have a curved or sloping edge on your knitting.

Thank you for the demo! Which brand of circular needles do you use?
@BrooklynTweed_Official3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching! We actually aren't sure which brand of needles these are, Jared received them as a gift long ago and they don't have a name on them. They're ebony wood with a plastic coated steel cable and are great to knit with - if anyone recognizes them let us know!

May I know how to do it on both edge? I mean BO both edge same row with this technique? Thanks
@BrooklynTweed_Official2 жыл бұрын
Hello! To bind off symmetrically on both sides of the fabric, you'll bind off at the beginning of every row rather than every other row. Happy knitting!

@@BrooklynTweed_Official Sorry, I am a bit slow. I want to BO 4 sts on both edge for 4 rows. I just not sure how to BO in using this technique when come to the last 4 sts.
@BrooklynTweed_Official2 жыл бұрын
Hi Hajjar! You'd need to work your last 4 stitches as normal, turn your work, then bind off 4 stitches at the beginning of the next row - this puts your working yarn in position to work across the rest of the row.

I did that ordinary step bind off with putting 11-11 - 11 on safety pins... Now then I'm trying to bind off in your style it's being small wholes betreen eatch section. I don't know how to save it
@BrooklynTweed_Official2 жыл бұрын
Hi Monica! You may get small gaps between each section as you're binding off, but they should even out with blocking - make sure you're passing the unworked stitch of the previous row over the slipped stitch at the beginning of each section. Shoot us an email at support AT brooklyntweed DOT com if you need more help!

I’m working on a pattern (Arlo) that has me binding off in two directions. I wish you had a video of that. It’s confusing for the uninitiated. Guess I’ll do a test on something else.
@BrooklynTweed_Official3 жыл бұрын
Are you working on the back? That can be a bit confusing since you're working on both sides with two balls of yarn. We're here if you need help! Look for the Pattern Support link on our website or email Support at Brooklyn Tweed dot com.

Are you knitting the first stitch on the wrong side? You were moving a little too fast for me to catch.
@BrooklynTweed_Official3 жыл бұрын
Good eye! We often work a garter stitch edging on our swatches (knitting the first stitch of every row) to help keep the edges from curling. Thanks for watching & happy knitting!
