Step by step tutorial on how to knit the cable stitch for beginners

You want to create beautiful Aran sweaters or cable hats? Then you only need to know how to knit the cable stitch. There is the left cross and the right cross and I'm going to show you how in this video.
All you need is a cable needle, and you need to know how to purl and how to knit.
For the left cross, slip the first two stitches on your cable needle and hold the needle in front. Then knit the next two stitches. Pick up the cable needle again and knit the two slipped stitches. Put the cable needle to the side, and continue knitting.
For the right cross, you do exactly the same thing, but keep the cable needle in the back.
In the return row you knit all stitches the way they appear. Typically you only cross on the right side and keep a couple of rows in between each crossing.
You can also knit the cable stitch without a cable needle. Here is how: nimble-needles...

When doing reversible cables do you still just knit all the way along the wrong side?

no...in that case you have to follow the 1x1 rib stitch pattern for the cables.

Why is there not instructions from the beginning. You already have stitches on

typically because 90% of all knitters know how to do it. Besides, this is a tutorial on the cable stitch, and not a tutorial on how to knit a cable pattern. I suggest you search for the latter.
