Dear Steezy, so... I'm a beginner-ish dancer, and one of the things I struggle the most with is execution. Like, when I learn a piece, or even when I choreograph on my own, I can see the move so clearly in my head (or from the choreographer) and it makes so much sense in my head but when I try to do it myself, I look like a wooden doll with bad hinges. Are there any tips you have on making yourself look better when you dance?

@Carmen_JC5 жыл бұрын
I'm a dancer, a you should look at yourself more in the mirror. I know, the first time you feel awkward looking at you and feeling you are doing so bad, but keep at looking at you. Of course, first look at your teacher and make sure you learn and remember the steps, and when you feel confident, look at you at the mirror trying to remember on your own the New choreography. If you still see you don't look good, practice in your home in front of a mirror, and look what moves look strange, and try to make them more beautiful by trying different ways to execute it. In that way, you'll be more relaxed an without the preasure of your mates looking at you. Keep dancing, soon it will give you so many satisfaction and liberty ❤️
@notdanielyong34175 жыл бұрын
@@Carmen_JC definitely. Do the moves slowly in the mirror and try to figure out what part looks unnatural. Maybe a weirdly bent joint, the speed of the movement, etc., and try to fix it. You can also record yourself doing the full choreography, and see what parts you seem to rush or be flustered on, and try to focus more on how to improve on those parts specifically. Another thing I have realized is that you really need to feel the piece you are dancing, if its hip hop, you need to feel cool and confident, contemporary, you should feel the emotions of the song and dance it. When you are really feeling your movements while dancing and just dance with sincerity, I find you usually dance a lot better. Pro tip: your expression also plays into how a piece looks, if your facial expression looks awkward while dancing a hip hop piece, you will come off as lacking confidence and a newbie.

Dear steezy, I know I’m late but still gonna ask. I am a self taught dancer who has been dancing for almost a year, freestyling primarily and haven’t really done much choreography but I think I am a pretty advanced dancer. I went to a master class and tried it out but they were going way too fast and it was embarrassing that I couldn’t get much of the choreography down. The lower classes are like smaller kids and I’m 16 and the advanced classes are older, which one would u recommend me to take??

Dear STEEZY, In my hometown, there are lots of dance workshops which are organized every month. I and my friends really enjoy going to those workshops to learn new moves, choreo and dance styles. I just wonder how many workshops/classes should I sign up each month? I afraid that attending too many dance workshops could make me feel overloaded with information and thus I cannot get the most out of them.

Dear Steezy, already read your article about music copyright on youtube but even though there are somethings that i don't understand and wanted to know if you could help out answering. Whenever i put i video with music copyright in my account they work but just people with computers, no smartphones or tablets but all the famous choreographers use the same music but their videos work in all platforms? is that something that i can do? is there a special license or something like that for using music for dance videos ? Thankful for all you hard work!!!

Dear Steezy, Is it weird or awkward to show up at drop in classes alone? Like if your brand new to the studio and you hear about it through insta or social media? I've really been wondering because I am kinda a beginner dancer and I've been looking for studios to take classes at and I don't know if it's right if I just show up to the class alone not knowing anyone but the choreographer, who I only know through social media....thanks😊

Alyssa Watts I'm not part of steezy. But there is definitely nothing wrong with going alone if your just starting. I remember when I first started I was kind of scared too, but eventually I went and realized it's ok to go alone. Anyways hope this helps :)

I have a question I'm a self taught dancer like it's been almost 2yrs I have been practicing on my own nd like past one year I'm seriously practicing it . I learned classical dance a bit for almost a year nd now trying different styles like hip hop wen I record myslef I do great but sometimes I don't why it looks nasty I get demotivated that I didn't able to learn it nicely tho I practiced it a lot I don't know how to improve myself wen I think I improved a bit in a certain choreography the next choreography which is a bit high level then the previous one I felt I didn't improved at all . Please help me with this I wish I can show you my vedios for reviews .

I often feel super depressed because I have been dancing for years now and I still look like a potato. People (and even I) still see me as a beginner and I'm just not getting better. Guess I have no talent😶 I always see the people around me and the ones on the internet and I feel like I can't reach their level ever
@SR-em8wl6 жыл бұрын
Mar Hoff Don't worry, it happens sometimes. Maybe you're struggling way too much. Maybe you need to look at it from a different perspective. Most of the times, it seems harder only because you've been looking at it from a different view. Once you adjust yourself to the right direction, there's a chance you'd actually do excellent than others. (P.S: If you're forcing yourself to dance without any interest, I'm afraid it's not good for you any day) All the best, buddy =D
