Great video Patrick! These are really good tips for beginner designers. For those of you who are more established asking people for a review may have you lose altitude with higher paying clients so I'd post something where you offer to do an audit of their website for free. This may get you additional interested parties and you'll still maintain your position as an expert.

At the moment the mods seem to instantly ban my posts in the first few groups I posted in.. I'll be persistent with it though, and tailor the message a bit

Good way to be labeled as a spamer... This rarely or never works, people are there to network, get referals, or new jobs from other people working in the same area, they are not there to be pitched a website, if they wanted one they would look for it elsewhere not in a group. Not to mention mods will insta ban you for spam

I've posted in countless group (1 or 2 times per group), got kicked maybe twice, and had many people message me after posting (As i wasnt spamming nor promoting directly) Plus I've gotten calls and clients from it. Will there be times that you'll be unlucky --> Absolutely, but if you play it safe and post in a respectful manner, then the upside is greater than the downside :)

It's not spamming, it's outreach. Even large companies do outreach of some sort. If you were to consider this method as a spamming activity, it would be like saying that ads are spam too... There's nothing wrong about reaching out to people and telling them about how your value might benefit them.

Great question!! I think both are great. When you're starting out, you can be a generalist and go to networking events, or local business meetups and therefore get any client in person. But if you want to systemise your business and scale I personally would recommend niching down. This doesn't have to be an industry although that can really help!!

Great question! I personally like doing it with my personal account as people like talking to people. And if you have a business account with 10 likes people will see it more as spam. But that is only my option :) Hope that helps

Currently doing SEO and web work for all at the same time. My first agency clients, but I've been a designer for companies my whole career. There are a couple of things you can do. Either upload a video (Square or Portrait) that shows you scrolling through the website. Or you can break the design into 2 sections and have it laid out next to each other on the design post. Or of course upload two photos where the design is broken up into 2 sections. Let me know if that makes sense!

Great question. Are you sure you cant find any facebook groups? If that niche is what you want to pursue and makes sense for you, I wouldn't switch niches just because one strategy doesn't work :) For instagram, you'll probably have to do outreach. But double check if you can find some groups somewhere. Sorry that I couldn't help further!
