I love this plan. I am going to remove an old wood front deck. My plan includes a concrete double drive then curving to incorporate colored stamped patio along front of house. Instead of gas fire pit, I will have to use propane fire table. The landscaping is old and will do tear out and refresh with new. Your plan gives me ideas for my area. Thank you for this video, love it!!

I just like seeing the process that a professional designer goes through to come up with a design. Watching it go from paper to 3D rendering is cool to see. The true cost breakdown of a project that size really puts it in perspective for someone that may be interested in doing something similar. I have a couple projects that I want to tackle at my house and this gives me a roadmap to go by. Plus, I have a passion for landscape design so it’s fun to watch the process.

I do not like the look of patio but love trex style decks. But I only see patio on all landscaping projects. We need to get our backyard done (including removing the old deck). Wondering why decks aren’t popular?

Love your videos. Would love to see one on dealing with a front door facing the side. We are about to replace old deck. It wraps around from the front to back, of a raised ranch. Odd front door faces the south while house faces west and the long driveway that curves around to back of house garage. My dilemma is should the entry stairs line up with the front (side placed) door. (No archetectural interest just door with hip roof) Choosing between stairs heading from front & curving path toward driveway OR stairs heading straight off s side toward driveway. I may have the stairs all along in an L shape around whole 8 x 12' entry area with some kind of stones/patio below..🤷‍♀️ Would appreciate any thoughts or standard 'rules of thumb' advise you can offer. Thanks🙂

@MamaJP Petree Thank you so much for the comment! The answer isn't 100% but I will say what I tend to do is break up stairs where there is a landing. I don't like a straight shot down 10-12 stairs unless it's 100% necessary. Maybe the combination of coming down 5-6 stairs to a landing and then returning over to the driveway and down a few more stairs is the best choice. Difficult to say without a picture but the idea is to keep it interesting and not so steep.

I didn't give enough clear description of the front entry. It is only 3 steps down to ground level in front of house. Hill slope begins at corner & goes downhill towards the back of house. I tend to also like the idea of steps going toward street ( 200+feet away), then paver patio heading left toward driveway. I think the principal works no matter how many steps down anyway. Thanks

What about a 2-4 person hot tub? I’m thinking we will build a screen fence around it because both sides of our yard are not private, we have privacy spots in the yard, but not all of it. We are blessed to have almost 3/4 of an acre in a subdivision. So we are happy with the maintenance of the yard. We actually want less grass, more plants a vegie herb gardens and a small swimming pool, salt water type.

@Laura Truth Seeker Your yard sounds like it has so many possibilities and opportunities! I think a smaller more intimate hot tub is great for those who many have themselves and maybe a couple over here and there. If you host events or BBQs with a few other couples the hot tub is going to almost guaranteed to leave someone out because it's not big enough.

Out of curiosity, how long does it take you to build the initial house in the software? Is it a huge time commitment or are there like premade drag and drop ish kind of home designs to help speed the process along?

Great question! That is hands-down the part that takes me the longest and it truly depends on how intricate and how large the houses. Every single one of the designs you see in my videos are from a client so they are all custom and exactly how their house looks. I would say the house takes anywhere between 2 to 8 hours depending on when I’m building.❤️

It's a shame that there isn't some kind of technology that would allow for photos to be scanned and a 3D structure created and imported automatically based on the images taken.
