How To Launch A Boat By Yourself! **SKETCHY** (my first time)

Today we launch the bass boat by ourselves for the first time! This is one easy way I’ve been told how to launch a boat by yourself and haven’t tried it until today, but once you do it once, it really just comes down to getting your boat trailer in the proper position on the ramp each time and it will be a fast and smooth process. Be careful not to let your boat float away by backing in too far or unstrapping it ahead of time if it’s a light aluminum bass boat like ours that may decide to drift off the trailer if you come in a little hot 😅

When I first started doing this by myself I tied a rope and had it long enough to reach the cab of my truck once it got loose I just stepped out and pulled boat to shore in a good spot, there was no dock and I was a 16 year old just tryna dangle, it gained the respect of the older guys at the launch, innovation was key with my old Jon boat

Pro tip loading boat on trailer : if high winds is rolling waves into the ramp at a angle or across it . When you back trailer in semi jack knife the trailer where the waves are rolling into the back of trailer best you can . This helps with people who can’t load with high crosswinds or waves and allows the waves to help shove boat onto trailer in a sense

It's a lot easier on your truck transmission if you set the parking brake then put it in park and never have it on a grade with only the transmission in park. It wears out the shifter pawls. Nice video !

Thanks for the solo launch video, helps build my confidence. I just picked up a little 3.5 Merc for my Pelican & look forward to moving from ponds to the lakes. I know i will have high anxiety for my maiden solo lake launch but i plan to take it slow and easy especially if i can find a ramp that is not over crowded, maybe Collin Park..Any tips for Lake Lavon?

I launch single all the time and it was nerve racking, and sometime it still is. 😑 I have a rope on my cleat and put the loop of the other end on my Tick Step handle. I forgot to do it once and my boat began to float away... I had to go in the water. That being said, at least have a long rope (20 feet) tied to your eyelet (carabiner) and the other end tied to your trailer hitch or something.

I remember my first time when I was like 8-10 years old . I do this about 200 times a year by myself with a 21ft skeeter . And that was way to much it’s really really easy to do by yourself . Never back boat in till it floats that’s a no no stop just short of back of boat floating and get after it . It want slide off trailer like that if it’s not floating .
